FPL Updates vs FFPundits – Football Fanager

So in gameweek 32 on Football Fanager, we were hoping for bigger and brighter things and if we are completely honest with ourselves, anything would have been an improvement on gameweek 31. However, this wasn’t to be as despite nearly doubling our score from the previous gameweek, we still managed a below average score. We think it is safe to say that we weren’t anywhere near the Pundits this week, a somewhat woeful attempt by us. It all started so well when Southampton secured a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Hull which meant 3 clean sheets for our team (Davis, Fonte and Bertrand). This is where the good news really ended as our other hopes for clean sheets were with West Brom defenders Dawson and Lescott who were treated to a footballing lesson by Leicester City as Leicester fight their way back from the brink. A goal from Sterling and an assist from Hazard were the only other things worth mentioning here as our captain HurriKane blanked and Remy was a no show through injury.
Onwards and upwards now (hopefully) and onto gameweek 33 vs. FantasyFootyPundits and this week is an interesting one through the lack of fixtures. Here is how we line up:

FPL Updates

Defence

The heart of our back line once again sits with Southampton as they play in the 3pm kick off at Stoke. Thankfully this fixture isn’t being played on a cold Tuesday night otherwise we may have had to have a rethink! We start Davis in goal after his clean sheet in the gameweek just gone, alongside Bertrand who is always a goal threat on the wing too. To partner them we have Gael Clichy who will be looking to pick up the pieces after the derby day demolition they suffered at Old Trafford. They face West Ham in the early kick off on Sunday so we are hoping for a promising performance here. Our final defender who makes up our back 3 is Joel Ward who he and Palace welcome West Brom to Selhurst this week. After West Brom lost to Leicester, you’ve got to feel Palace will fancy their chances, especially if Bolasie continues in fine form!

Midfield

So we are going for a 5 man midfield this gameweek and we have gone for players across the board. To make it interesting, we have thrown in a few differentials along with some players you would expect to see in our line-up. To start with, we have David Silva who will be hoping to bag a goal against the Hammers. Alongside him we start Eden Hazard who faces a tough visit from an in form Manchester United. Chelsea will be looking for a win of course in order to make it just 2 wins required for the title and they will be looking to this man to provide the magic. A fan of Jonjo Shelvey I hear you say? Right you are my friend. Jonjo joins the line up as they take on Leicester at the King Power. If you’re not a fan of this man, you’ve not been watching him very closely. This guy can produce magic so subtly so keep an eye on this one. Our fourth midfielder for the week is Christian Eriksen who faces a trip to the North East to battle it out with Newcastle in the late Sunday fixture. Eriksen has been quiet of late but we are backing him once again this week to deliver the goods. Our final midfielder is Aaron Lennon. A great shout by the Differentials XI team so we thought why not take a gamble ourselves? This guy is always producing great stuff, which is obviously assisted by his electric pace. Although Everton aren’t performing at their best, we back them to get a result at home against Burnley.

Strikers

As you have probably worked out from a 3-5 formation for our defence and midfield, we have gone with 2 up top. No you’re not back at the beginning of the season so yes, Pelle is in our team for gameweek 33. After scoring his first goal since December last week against Hull, we imagine he will be hungry for me. We are also giving him the extra confidence boost he may need by handing him the captain’s armband. The regular fire-power you may be less surprised to see is Aguero who we have chosen to partner Pelle this week. Despite a poor team performance at Old Trafford, Aguero did score 2 goals and will look to score even more, and ones that count for something at that.

So now let’s turn our attention to the Pundits team and let’s see what we are competing with:

Pundits

So straight away we can see that they will be relying on strong performances from both Chelsea and Everton as 6 out of their 11 players are coming from these two teams, noticeably both Hazard and Lennon who both also made into our team. They also have two players from both Crystal Palace and Manchester City, with the last place in their team going to the Super Harry Kane! With the captaincy currently with Mr Murray they will be hoping for another strong performance from the Crystal Palace striker this week, as they face off against West Brom at home. With that being said, let the games begin and if you think you can beat both of us be sure to join in the fun!
