FPL Updates XI – Gameweek 18

Gameweek 19 and boxing day football is nearly upon us! Whilst you are all stuffing yourselves with food and drink, be sure not to neglect your teams too much! FPL Updates XI managed to score 47 points  which was bang on average, but not enough to climb up the ranks. Here is how the team performed:

FPL Updates

So Rob Green scored a solid 2 points, and still no Tim Krul. In defence we had a bit of a mare. We took the Clichy gamble, but it didn’t pay off as he didn’t feature and was the first victim of the Christmas holiday rotation, but we won’t be removing him as he will feature during the festive period. Alongside him Taylor kept a clean sheet but picked up a booking, and Wisdom scored a single point.

In midfield we saw Sigurdsson not feature, but luckily Young who was our first sub managed to grab an assist. Sanchez unfortunately blanked and brought in 2 points, whilst Hazard scored a total of 7 points after he picked up a cheeky assist. Finally, Downing continued to impress and scored 10 points after scoring another goal.

Up top Kane scored us 8 points with another goal, whilst Costa and Rooney blanked. Rooney was our captain which flopped, but luckily a few of the other captaincy choices did too.

This week we have chosen not to make any changes, as with all the rotation we feel we could do with 2 transfers next week and we have players playing on the bench ready to come in for any players that may not feature. So with that said, here is how the team lines up:

FPL Updates XI Gameweek 18

This week in goal we once again start Rob Green as Tim Krul isn’t back fit, and we feel it would be a bit of a wasted transfer taking Tim out when he should be back in a few weeks. In defence we start; Clichy, Taylor and Hutton. Clichy was rested last week, but we fully expect Manchester City’s defence to be rotated and him to feature. Whilst alongside him Taylor and Hutton have good fixtures.

In the middle of the park we are unchanged, starting Sanchez, Downing, Hazard and Sigurdsson. Here two points to note are that firstly Sigurdsson didn’t start last week, but has been passed fit this week, so there is no need to take him out as he should feature. Also Hazard picked up a knock in Chelsea’s last game, and may be a bit of a risk, but here we have Young ready to step into the team if needed.

Finally up top we start Costa, Rooney and Kane who all have decent games, being; West Ham, Newcastle and Leicester City respectively. We have chosen to give the captain’s armband to Costa. With Fabregas in fine form and Hazard putting an extra big shift in at home, we should see Costa reap the benefits of that and score some big FPL points… we hope!
