Another gameweek is upon us, and here is our gameweek 14 preview for the first set of midweek fixtures in the 2014/2015 campaign:
Burnley Vs Newcastle
Recovering from a terrible start to the season, Burnley have collected seven points from a possible nine, whilst Newcastle’s loss to West Ham at the weekend has put an end to their miraculous winning run under Pardew, so it could go either way in this one.
STAR MAN – Danny INGS
Four goals in five games for the prolific Burnley striker is a solid record, especially with him being used to playing midweek league games after being in the Championship.
Leicester City Vs Liverpool
Despite beating Manchester United, the Foxes now lie bottom of the Premier League table, whilst Liverpool’s recent win has put an end to their horrible run, and they should be able to get a second win in a row.
STAR MAN – Kolo TOURE
A bargain in the game, in the Reds’ back four at the weekend, Kolo’s strength and experience has brought much needed solidarity to their defence, and Leicester should not pose a threat to him.
Manchester United Vs Stoke City
Is the old Manchester United back in the big time? Van Gaal is currently on an unstoppable run who should continue their impressive home record against a Stoke side who are lacking in sheer quality at the moment.
STAR MAN – Wayne ROONEY
The Red Devils’ captain is finally back to his best and he cannot stop scoring at the moment, whether it is for club or country!
Swansea City Vs QPR
QPR are starting to turn their season around under Harry Redknapp but their away form has been woeful, so the Swans should easily be taking three points from this fixture especially with their form this season.
STAR MAN – Wilfried BONY
This man is a goal machine! The highest Premier League goal-scorer in 2014, he surely is a must have up front in your teams.
Crystal Palace Vs Aston Villa
This lower mid-table battle is an intriguing clash with both teams desperate to secure a further three points, although Palace will probably come out on top given their current form, including an impressive win over Liverpool.
STAR MAN – Yannick BOLASIE
This winger has been Neil Warnock’s unsung hero with his pace and desire paying off during his impressive performances.
West Brom Vs West Ham
It’s been a topsy-turvy season for West Bromwich Albion who have performed rather inconsistently so far but on the contrary it has been a fantastic start for Sam Allardyce. However, recent injuries for the Hammers means the match will probably be a draw.
STAR MAN – Saido BERAHINO
The top English goal-scorer this season, we really should be putting more faith in this young lad for the Albion.
Arsenal Vs Southampton
As the tough games start coming up for the Saints, it seems like they are starting to crumble under the pressure, and another loss is probably on the cards as a determined Arsenal look to grab another home win.
STAR MAN – Santi CAZORLA
Some magical and inspirational performances in recent games have led the Gunners to victory so his spark should prove on top again.
Chelsea Vs Tottenham
You just never know what is going to happen with Spurs but the 100% Chelsea home record should continue without any real trouble as they are just going to be simply too strong for the opposition this Wednesday.
STAR MAN – Gary CAHILL
England’s best defender by a country mile, Cahill is extremely good at the back and rarely makes an error, and his height always prevails from a set piece.
Everton Vs Hull City
It has got rather dull for Hull with their new signings not exactly performing to the standards they expected them to, so Everton should win this match comfortably who are looking to bounce back from Sunday.
STAR MAN – Kevin MIRALLAS
With his trickery and pace as well as an absolute screamer against Tottenham the other day, Mirallas deserves a place in the team and he will be looking to put in another first class performance here.
Sunderland Vs Man City
Sunderland have a fantastic record against Manchester City in recent seasons which may prove to unnerve them, but a rampant away win for the champions at the weekend should show strong again in this fixture.
STAR MAN – Yaya TOURE
The African powerhouse is back to his best with his bursting runs from midfield as well as his long-range stunners.
Dean.
