Gameweek 16 – Captaincy Analysis

With no midweek Premier league action, the weekend is where gameweek 16 kicks off and what better way to get you thinking back to your teams than the Captaincy Analysis. Last week was a bit of a nightmare as about 95% of the fantasy football population saw their captains either; Aguero going off after two minutes or Costa blanking! Anyway, here is how last week’s picks did:

1. Diego Costa – 1 point

2. Sergio Aguero – 1 point

Differential – Wilfried Bony – 7 points

Gamble – Alexis Sanchez – 5 points

Hopefully this week we’ll be a bit luckier! Whoever you captain, we hope you’re successful, but here are our choices:

1. Diego Costa (HUL)

The obvious replacement for Aguero is Costa. He is struggling currently, with a bit of a niggling injury, but he could find the back of the net at any time. Chelsea play an out of form Hull City and Costa will no doubt want to get on the score-sheet. He has 11 goals in 11 games currently, which is good reading for any of those looking to captain the Spaniard.

2. Romelu Lukaku (QPR)

Lukaku generally is very good at home, and with QPR visiting Everton this week we fancy him to find the back of the net. QPR themselves haven’t got a lot of pace at the back and it possibly could be exploited at times by Everton’s attack. Romelu will surely help us out this week if you captain him and bring some points home…

Differential – Andy Carroll (SUN)

This West Ham striker is a bit of a tank to say the least (when he is fit). He played the full 90 minutes on Sunday, finding the back of the net twice and was unlucky not to bag a hat-trick! Playing Sunderland this week, we can see the poacher grabbing another, especially as he is linking so well with the likes of Downing!

Gamble – Robin van Persie (LIV)

Robin is in brilliant form! With two goals against arguably the best defence in the league. We back him to rake in the goals this season if he rediscovers the form he once had. He can be so clinical, and you have to fancy him to score if he gets any sniff at goal! A fantastic player, and hopefully he will bag a goal against Liverpool, who aren’t exactly playing great!
