Before we know it, we have another day of football! Here is the gameweek 19 preview:
Tottenham v Manchester United
These are two of the current in-form teams in the Barclays Premier League, both unbeaten for a little while as well so it could be a feisty encounter. You would have to feel though that Manchester United have the better squad depth to gain a victory here.
STAR MAN – Christian ERIKSEN
The Danish playmaker has been Spurs’ saviour this season and should provide for his team again in front of the home fans.
Southampton v Chelsea
Chelsea are not only winning game after game but are not conceding goals either, whilst Southampton have picked up a bit of form recently, however it will be very difficult for the Saints to get anything against the league leaders.
STAR MAN – John TERRY
Terry has two goals and two clean sheets in his last two games so his confidence may bring him more goal-scoring luck.
Aston Villa v Sunderland
Both of these sides have had seasons to forget so far with problems both on and off the field, so it may not be the greatest encounter we have seen this season but judging by their performances, a draw is the probable outcome.
STAR MAN – Adam JOHNSON
Johnson is having a fantastic festive period despite his team’s overall performance, so he should provide the spark for them.
Hull City v Leicester City
This is a real six-pointer with both sides desperate to avoid the drop, so it should be a really good game despite the calibre of players on the field. Despite Leicester’s horrible run of form, they have been playing alright so they may grab some points from this game.
STAR MAN – Leonardo ULLOA
He had a major blip since his solid start to the season, but Ulloa has scored two goals in the last couple of weeks so he should find the target.
Manchester City v Burnley
This is a mouth-watering fixture for any Fantasy Premier League player as surely the floodgates should open and Manchester City should ease to victory as these are the sorts of games where the champions need to capitalise on goal difference.
STAR MAN – David SILVA
Merlin as they call him, the magician is scoring and assisting for fun in recent times and should do so again here.
QPR v Crystal Palace
Another six-pointer, Crystal Palace have slowly delved into the bottom three at this halfway stage of the season and will see this as a decent opportunity to get out of their situation, however QPR are rampant at home.
STAR MAN – Charlie AUSTIN
Austin is the third top-scorer in the league this season and is handy from open play as well as the penalty spot.
Stoke City v West Brom
Stoke have been so inconsistent this season and this was evident once again following their impressive victory at Goodison Park two days ago, so you would think that they would cruise to victory against a poor West Brom side but with The Potters in their current run of form, who knows!
STAR MAN – Asmir BEGOVIC
An under-rated goalkeeper, Begovic should have no trouble against an extremely lacklustre West Bromwich Albion.
West Ham v Arsenal
This is a rather important top of the table clash in which both these sides are now fighting for Champions League football, but the Gunners may just have too much experience and fitness for the Hammers.
STAR MAN – Alexis SANCHEZ
Sanchez has been a revelation for Arsenal this season and may be the one to provide the game-changing moments once again.
Newcastle v Everton
This match sees two teams who sit in mid-table and will probably stay there come May, however there is no reason why it should not be a good game as they both have good squads but a draw is most likely.
STAR MAN – Daryl JANMAAT
Everton have not been posing too much of a goal threat recently and Janmaat has also popped up in advanced positions quite a few times with good intent.
Liverpool v Swansea
These sides lay side-by-side in the table and judging by that, they will probably share the points in this Monday fixture. Liverpool still can’t quite work out their best starting XI whilst Swansea have exceeded expectations.
STAR MAN – Jonjo SHELVEY
There really is only one man who can be the star of this fixture.
Dean.
