Gameweek 38 Captaincy Analysis

Welcome to our final captaincy analysis of the season. It’s been a hard slog but I’m sure you’ve all enjoyed it and by mid June we will all be waiting for gameweek 1 again! Most of the main positions have been decided and only the final relegation spot undecided. As we have done 37 times since August, it’s time to dissect the main options for your final captain of the season, however first we must see how our picks from last week got on.

1. Alexis Sanchez – 5 points

2. Sergio Aguero – 5 points

3. Olivier Giroud – 4 points

Gamble – Jermaine Defoe – 4 points

Differential – Harry Kane – 4 points

So all in all a poor week for our picks but we’re hoping for better this week so without further delay let’s get on with it.

1. Sergio Aguero (SOU)

The Argentine will be crowned top scorer this week even though he missed 6 weeks through injury. His team fell short in their defence of the title however it’s been a fine season for Aguero who has notched 25 goals going into the final game. To Southampton’s credit they defied the pundits and look likely to qualify for Europe next year so it will be no walkover at the Etihad.

2. Alexis Sanchez (WBA)

Sanchez has blanked last 2 gameweeks only returning 5 points from a double gameweek which had so much potential. However with Arsenal ending their season at home to West Brom on a high, this is why I’m banking on the Chilean to finish his first season in English football with a flourish. Alexis will be one to watch next season.

3. Diego Costa (SUN)

Like Sanchez; Costa will also be looking to finish a good first season in England on a high. Chelsea finally get to lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday which means Chelsea will be looking to showcase why they are title winners and Costa will surely be looking to add to his impressive tally. Another one to look out for next season.

Gamble – Nikica Jelavic (MUN)

Hull need a win against Manchester United to give them a shot at survival so Hull will look to attack at the KC. Jelavic has had an injury hit season which can be seen in his goalscoring record, only 8 goals which represents a poor return. However if the Croatian can score the goals to keep Hull up that will soon be forgotten. Huge risk but could be a masterstroke.

Differential – Jamie Vardy (QPR)

Named in the England squad on Thursday (really), the soon to be England international has hit form at the right time to help the Foxes pull off a miracle escape. His tireless work rate has made him a hero at Leicester and although he hasn’t been prolific his assist return has been impressive. Fun fact: Jamie Vardy may look about 11 but in fact he is 28!

So that wraps up our final captaincy article of the season so all that’s left to do is thank every single person who has taken the time to read our articles on FPLUpdates! Good luck with the final gameweek and have a nice summer.
