PRE-SEASON ANALYSIS – Burnley

BURBurnley were somewhat a surprise package last season and managed to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League with second place in the Championship just behind Leicester City. The season before they had finished in eleventh.

After selling Charlie Austin to QPR, Sean Dyche’s side were relying on Sam Vokes and Danny Ings to hit the back of the net. During the campaign, they developed a lethal partnership and were a handful for any defence, scoring 48 goals between them in all competitions. It should also
be noted that this was only Sean Dyche’s second season of being a manager and helped to propel Burnley to promotion which is an incredible achievement.

STAR MAN – Danny INGS

Danny Ings has proven his class with both Burnley and England Under 21s. Last season in the championship he managed 21 goals in the league and played a pivotal part in the promotion of Burnley into the Premier League, along with being named player of the year. His prolific form and hard work ethic gives him significant potential to shine in the 2014/2015 season.

With a price tag of £6.0m he should definitely be considered as a cheap striker if you are intending to play 3 up top, or a good bench player if you have some spare money. He has proven himself to be a class striker in the Championship, he now needs to show it on the biggest stage.

HIDDEN GEM – Kieran TRIPPIER

Kieran Trippier was a pivotal part in Burnley’s success last season ensuring that they were tight and organised in defence. However the 23 year old is not only known for his defensive abilities, as last season he managed a total of two goals and fourteen assists in 41 appearances. Trippier will also be a favourite in dead ball situations, and is therefore always likely to pick up a few Fantasy Football points with those goals and assists from set pieces. At just £5.0m he is definitely worth a punt!
