PRE-SEASON ANALYSIS – Swansea City

Swansea CitySwansea gained promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and have since held themselves extremely well with finishes in 11th and 9th positions, along with the League Cup victory in the 2012/2013 season. Last season however, they found themselves just 2 points above the relegation zone which resulted in Michael Laudrup being sacked.

Garry Monk stepped into the manager’s shoes straight after the removal of Laudrup, which resulted in an immediate change in form and a strong end to the season. This form can be seen as very impressive as this was Garry Monk’s first managerial position in the top flight, and he will be relishing the chance to complete his first full season as manager of Swansea.

STAR MAN – Wilfried BONY

Bony proved last season that he is a constant threat and is not afraid to stick the ball in the back of the net. With 17 goals over the whole campaign, this can be seen as a good debut season in the Premier League, better than other debuts such as Soldado’s. He also managed to provide his colleagues with 4 assists and with a price of just £8.5m, he should definitely be considered when choosing your front two or three Fantasy Football strikers.

HIDDEN GEM – Gylfi SIGURDSSON

Sigurdsson joined Spurs in the summer of 2012 and has failed to really hit his full potential with only 8 goals in his 26 appearances. The Icelandic play-maker has now returned back to Swansea where he first made a name for himself scoring 7 goals in 17 games. During pre-season so far, Sigurdsson picked up 2 goals and an assist against Plymouth Argyle which gives the hope of big points next season. With a price of just £6.0m and only 7-8% ownership he could definitely be a crucial differential in the success of many teams.
