Under the Radar – Gameweek 20

Another gameweek is upon us and it is the time that we say goodbye to the festive period of fixtures and we return to the weekly gameweeks. However there is still one more lot of games to go before that time comes and they are to be played on New Year’s Day (all 10 matches). Let’s hope for some final festive fortune in the sense that both of this week’s picks will pay off.

KEVIN MIRALLAS, £7.2M, 2.3% TSB

Despite niggling injuries throughout the season so far, the Belgium made a 30 minute cameo against Newcastle which saw him grab a goal. Mirallas is by far Everton’s most attacking threat of late and the side face a trip to Hull and the KC Stadium on New Year’s Day, a battle of two sides out of form. On paper Everton look clear winners however in games like this anything can happen. Roberto Martinez has recently stated that his side need to get the basics right, which in theory should lead to some structural improvement within the Toffees’ camp. With some real defensive issues (Jagielka and Stones both suffering injuries) it looks like Garbutt might slip into left back again with Baines being pushed up field to left midfield. As a result of this the front line and attacking players will get a lot more service than in previous weeks; meaning more opportunities for the Belgium to get onto the score sheet. With Mirallas on free kicks of late there is more attacking promise there and all the more reason to put him into your fantasy team before the New Year.

SADIO MANE, £6.5, 0.3% TSB

Although the youngster is off to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after the coming gameweek he still has one game left to return the FPL goods for a third week running. After 2 goals in 2 starts Mane has been playing out of his skin for the Saints and looks extremely threatening on the left side of the pitch; a position in which upcoming opponents Arsenal are quite weak (the wings). Great pace and a direct mentality I strongly believe that if he plays Mane can return a goal for the third week running. We will see if he does or not come New Year’s Day but the final choice is yours, is he worth the risk for your side?

So that concludes the last Under the Radar post for 2014, I wish you all the best for 2015, hoping that it brings everything you ask for.

Dan.
