Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 16 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League captaincy article for the upcoming gameweek 16. Here we will analyse some of the FPL options and tips for your captaincy this week but before we do that, just as we always do, its time to review the performance of last week’s selections:

1. Romelu Lukaku – 8 points

2. Mesut Ozil – 6 points

3. Jamie Vardy – 5 points

Differential – Yannick Bolasie- 2 points

Gamble – Harry Kane- 1 point

So with 22 points our picks fared quite well but now it’s time to address the main order of business which is this week’s options.

1. Romelu Lukaku (NOR)

For me Lukaku is the stand-out pick this week. He’s got all the attributes of an FPL captain; good form, a decent fixture & a team which is playing well. Lukaku has 11 Premier League goals so far this season which is a great number however more importantly his recent form has been tremendous which is why so many managers have transferred him into their side. The Toffees face a trip to East Anglia to face a Norwich side struggling for form. All of these factors suggest that Lukaku will score well on Saturday and will be a popular captaincy choice this week. By the way, the Belgian has scored in each of his last 5 Premier League games and I think he could threaten Jamie Vardy’s record… what a story that would be!

2. Kevin De Bruyne (SWA)

Despite Manchester City’s disappointing defeat at the Britannia last week I fancy them to get back on track at the Etihad this week. City host a Swansea side in desperate form winning only once since the beginning of September. With the future of Garry Monk hanging in the balance City will be out to win emphatically on Saturday. I can’t see past City winning by several goals this weekend so it would be a good idea to have a City attacker and I think De Bruyne is the most likely to return a big score, a solid choice mainly due to the ease of the fixture.

3. Harry Kane (NEW)

Kane has been in decent form lately and has notched an impressive 8 Premier League goals so far. Spurs play host to a Newcastle team who with the exception of last week have been struggling so many expect Spurs to continue their unbeaten streak which stretched back to the first game of the season and despite a poor showing at West Brom, I expect Kane to perform which makes him a very viable option for your captaincy pick.

Differential – Olivier Giroud (AVL)

The Frenchman has made a decent start to the season so far, scoring 8 goals this season. Giroud even managed to score for both teams last week! With ownership just under 10% at the time of writing the Frenchman probably isn’t a classic differential but at 10%, if he does well, it will be reflected in your rank. Arsenal travel to an Aston Villa side in turmoil so the safe money is on a convincing Arsenal win. A good option which is definitely worth considering.

Gamble – Riyad Mahrez (CHE)

The Algerian winger grabbed a hat-trick at the Liberty stadium last week and this will obviously turn heads all over the FPL world. Leicester have been a revelation this season and the Foxes have shown no signs of hitting the buffers and this is why managers are putting their continued faith in Mahrez & Vardy. It is Chelsea who face the trip to the East Midlands on Monday night and given the form Chelsea have been in, Leicester have to be favourite. Mahrez is picked as a gamble option because of the quality in the Chelsea side but as of yet that quality is yet to surface. Mahrez comes with a tough fixture on paper but I’m sure many managers will give him the armband.

Bonus – Odion Ighalo (SUN)

The Watford striker has been playing really well this season however his exploits have largely passed under the radar. The Nigerian front man has scored 9 goals and laid on a few assists also. Watford have been quietly going about their business and currently find themselves in tenth with 22 points and the Hornets will be confident of adding to that total when they travel to the Stadium of Light this week. Ighalo looks to be a good captaincy choice.

Thanks for reading and good luck!
