Challenge the Pros – Gameweek 2 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

So last week we opened up a Fantasy Football cash league, courtesy of Premier Punt. The league itself was £2 to enter and your task was to challenge the pros; join us and beat us. One of you managed to do so, but with the FPL Updates team sitting second we still took home some of the pot! FPL Avids managed to score a position in the top half of the standings.

This week we have tried to make the league more affordable, so we have dropped it down to a £1 entry fee, with the cash being split on the same basis as last week (details can be found on the site). So if you think you can beat us or FPL Avids, come and join us!

In order to join the league, you need to follow some simple steps:

  1. Log-in or register on the Premier Punt website
  2. Once logged in, choose “Barclays Premier League – Game Week 2”
  3. Pick the team you think will beat us…
  4. Join the challenge “Challenge the pro’s – FPL Updates vs FPL Avids”

So here is FPL Updates team:

Updates

In between the sticks we have gone with Romero, who had a very impressive début against Spurs last week. His new team mate at United, Darmian, joins him in the back line. With Manchester United playing Aston Villa, we have doubled up with United defensive players and fancy them to keep a clean sheet. Along with United, we also fancy Liverpool to keep a clean sheet this week, as they face off against new boys Bournemouth, so in come Gomez and Lovren.

In the middle of the park we have gone with a differential 4 of; Mahrez, Cabaye, Wijnaldum and Payet. We think this will pay off this week and we have even handed Payet the captaincy as he and West Ham have their first home fixture against Leicester City. One point of concern is that we haven’t got any Arsenal coverage, so this may be rectified in the coming days.

Finally, up top we have gone with; Benteke, Rooney and Deeney. We expect both Benteke and Rooney to be highly sought after this week with fixtures against Aston Villa and Bournemouth, but the Watford captain should not be overlooked as his team face a fixture against a West Brom side that suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City on Monday.

So, over to FPL Avids.

FPL Avids’ team:

Avids

In defence I’ve adopted the approach I took up last week, even though it wasn’t successful. Watford v West Brom doesn’t sound like a lot of goals for me so I’ve gone for Myhill & Layun respectively. Finishing the backline are two young lads, 16 year old Oxford who faces Leicester and 18 year old Gomez who faces Bournemouth. In youth we trust!

In midfield I’ve gone with two lads who looked top notch last week; Mahrez & Payet. Both face each other and hopefully at least one will perform. Henderson & Mane complete my midfield. Henderson, the new captain of LFC, is likely to be on penalty duties and against Prem newcomers Bournemouth there is an increased chance of one. Mane will look to score big against a seemingly shite Everton.

Alexis Sanchez will probably be back in the starting XI this weekend. I reckon they could hammer Palace to show last weekend’s defeat was just a one off. Sanchez will be the focal point of this. Depay, or Memphis as he likes to be known, survives in my team for another week for his Friday night game against Villa. I still think he offers great value despite not returning anything significant in terms of points last week. Deeney finishes off my forward line after impressing me last week with an assist.

Note: Both teams are subject to change. May the best FPL Manager win!
