FPL Updates XI – Gameweek 37 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Following our poor FPL gameweek 36, we bounced back a little with a respectable 54 points last week and a move up to 65k overall. We are now just 15k outside of our early season target so gameweek 37 is big. We have the Triple Captain chip left and we’re not afraid to use it! So before we start getting giddy about the second big double game week of the fantasy premier league season, let’s review last week’s team.

FPL Updates XI

Jack Butland who?? The FPL Updates XI has a new ‘bae’ and he goes by the name of Karl Darlow! A month ago I wouldn’t have known if Karl Darlow was a Premier League goalkeeper or an X-Factor reject, but here he is putting up a 15 point week! To put it in perspective, David de Gea, Joe Hart and Thibaut Courtois haven’t even had a double figure week this season.

Thanks to Manuel Pellegrini’s tinkering we were lumbered with Jonny Evans in from the bench, as Sergio Aguero failed to register a minute. 1 point from the West Brom defender. With Arsenal keeping a clean sheet against Norwich we picked up a cleanie from Hector bellerin, but Gabriel’s 40 minute cameo was only enough to pick up a point. Our transfer in was Aaron Cresswell and he delivered a much appreciated 6 points. Seeing as he was mainly brought in for this upcoming week that was a bonus.

We went with the double West Ham midfield and typically enough it was Mark f**king Noble who decided he would make it 4 goals in 2 games. This season is weird! Dimitri Payet picked up a nice 7 points though with Manuel Lanzini just the 3. But as we said, they are in for this week. Last up was Phillipe Coutinho and his mingey 1 point. Owning Liverpool players has been somewhat of a pain in the arse. I’m all for English teams doing well in Europe but it would be so much easier if Dortmund had just done the business!

Our front 3 turned into a front 2 and was led by Harry Kane. There are certain unwritten laws within FPL and one of them is that Harry Kane scores against London teams. He played Chelsea, he scored against Chelsea. Unfortunately he was just our vice captain. Next to him was Odion ighalo. He blanked against Aston Villa! Aston Villa! ASTON.VILLA! If ever there was an argument for picking form over points/ability then this is it. He has a double this week and that’s the only reason he is still wearing the Sky Blue of the FPL Updates XI.

54 points will do, but there are certainly some of our team who are already on their summer holidays so we need to hope for a little bit extra for the last 2 game weeks. With the double game week upon us we have decided to run with 2 transfers for a 4 point hit and a painful goodbye to Harry Kane.

Kane (OUT) – Martial (IN)
Evans (OUT) – Smalling (IN)

Dropping Kane is one hell of a risk but with the season done for Spurs and the thoughts onto the Euros, we are gambling on the fact he eases off a tad. 2 Man Utd players in seems wise given they are still gunning for a top 4 place. So with the top 50k in our sights, let’s have a look at our strating XI for this massive week.

FPL Updates XI

Sorry Karl. We are a fickle bunch here and the Simon Mignolet double gameweek appeal gives him the edge. Benching Darlow against Villa here feels a little bit like turning down the solid 8 that you’re guarantee to pull in the blind hope of pulling the perfect 10 at the bar. But we are an optimistic bunch here.

At the back we welcome England’s best defender, Chris Smalling. Part of me wants him to rack up points and part of me wants him wrapped up in cotton wool on that United bench. He seems the one United defender guaranteed of 2 starts so he’s in. Cresswell is back in for the second week and he like his potential this week. The 8th highest scoring defender has been fantastic of late and I fully expect more than a basic 4 point return this week. Our only non double gameweek defender Joel Ward makes up the back 3 and has Stoke at home.

Our West ham coverage is maxed out in our midfield with Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini. West Ham are about to play their last 2 games ever at the Boleyn Ground and we are expecting flair and brilliance, which these 2 have in bundles. With that said we have given the Triple Captain chip to Monsieur Payet. At this moment in time I’m not sure how smart that is but there is no way West Ham will leave the Boleyn with a whimper and he has been about as good as anyone in FPL this year. Phillipe Coutinho is in again, but with Liverpool through to the Europa League final I have no clue if he plays 20 minutes or 2 full games. If you don’t own Liverpool players then keep it that way. If you do then cross your fingers when you are refreshing Twitter at 3pm on Sunday! Last up is the only non double gameweek midfielder, Alexis Sanchez. We thought about Ruben Loftus-Cheek but starting him over Sanchez just seems ludicrous.

Up top we have our other new boy Anthony Martial in the ranks. With the Euros round the corner I think we see a Martial on a mission as he will no doubt want to impress Didier Deschamps. Sergio Aguero starts with just the single game this week, but with City now out of the Champions League I think he’s safe of a start. Gunning for 4th and the golden boot, he just can’t be benched or sold. Although we know many have. Bizarrely his ownership has dropped well below Harry Kane’s so at least he is a slight differential. Last and certainly least is Ighalo. He plays because of a double gameweek and the fact we don’t want to waste any more points on transfers. At this point I just hope he plays enough minutes to get us 4 points.

So with just 2 weeks left every move counts. I can safely say this has been the hardest week to decide on transfer and I’m sure I will make some ridiculous 10pm beer garden driven transfer ruining it all!

Good luck to all and use your free transfers and outstanding chips wisely!
