Gameweek 21 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 22 is done and dusted, and before we know it we are looking towards another Fantasy Premier League gameweek at the weekend! Before we look at gameweek 22, lets take a look at how the FPL dream team ended up:

Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

Tim Howard – The USA international has been a bit hit and miss this season, but coming up against Manchester City this week, many assumed there would be goals! How wrong were they; a 0-0 draw, 5 saves and a bonus point means he was the top scoring keeper this week with 8 points.

Defenders

Joleon Lescott – Since his move from Manchester City, Lescott has nailed down his place in the Villa team, however sitting bottom of the Premier League, he could be playing Championship football next season. This week however, he was determined not to let this happen, scoring the only goal in the fixture against Crystal Palace thanks to some questionable goalkeeping from Hennessey.

Robert Huth – An 83rd minute goal saw Huth and his Leicester City team mates go away from White Hart Lane with the three points, which also saw them tie on points with Arsenal, only seeing them second on goal difference. This coupled with a clean sheet and bonus earned Huth a well deserved place in the dream team.

Matt Targett – One of this season’s Fantasy Premier League bargains, at just 3.7m, has returned to the dream team. After playing the first 6 gameweeks, Targett hasn’t featured since. However, this week he did and he managed to create a goal and keep a clean sheet in the fixture against Watford, justifying his position in the dream team this week.

Christian Fuchs – A clean sheet against Tottenham and an assist for his fellow ‘dream-teamer’ Huth meant the Austrian ended the week with 12 points.

Patrick van Aanholt – 2 goals in 2 Premier League games isn’t bad for a struggling Sunderland defender and that is exactly what van Aanholt has done, with goals against Aston Villa and Swansea. 11 points in total and a place in this week’s dream team is a brilliant return from the Dutchman.

Midfielders

Ibrahim Afellay – With one of the most creative Stoke players (Shaqiri) out with an injury this gameweek, it was up to another to step up. Many thought it would be Arnautovic, who did get an assist, but it was Afellay who features in the dream team with two assists and 3 bonus points!

Roberto Firmino – A 6 goal thriller at Anfield saw Liverpool draw 3-3 with Arsenal. Firmino himself managed to bag two of the goals in a game which saw him play the full 90 minutes for only the third time this season. This along with bonus points saw the Brazilian feature in this week’s dream team.

Strikers

Jermain Defoe – Sunderland seem to be struggling for form of late, but this wasn’t evident, as Defoe found himself scoring a hat-trick against Swansea. Thanks to this hat-trick he landed his 50th goal away from home in the Premier League. He of course bagged 3 bonus points and therefore sealed his place in the dream team as the star man!

Wayne Rooney – Manchester United have been struggling for form of late, and so has this man. However this week he stepped up to the plate, deilvering 2 goals and 1 assist in the 3-3 draw against Newcastle. This coupled with 3 bonus points gave the England skipper a total of 16 points and a place in the dream team.

Enner Valencia – West Ham equalled their record of 8 Premier League games unbeaten this gameweek, with a lot of this down to Payet and Valencia. It is Valencia who features in the dream team however, with two fine goals and 3 bonus points!
