Gameweek 22 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

After a frantic round of fixtures, gameweek 22 has wrapped up with Arsenal back on the top of the table, Manchester Utd in 5th place, seven points off the top, and Aston Villa still at the bottom of the table, 10 points adrift.

In FPL it was definitely a strong week for the midfield, with five midfielders making it into the highest scoring team of the week. Any player who took a punt on Charlie Daniels or Matt Targett will definitely have reaped the rewards while Sergio Aguero continued his recent purple patch.

FPL Dreamtean

Goalkeeper

Mark Bunn – The Aston Villa stopper scored 10 points this week after putting in a strong performance to help Villa get a point against Leicester City. Selected by only 0.01% of FPL players, we can’t imagine too many people have prospered, but maybe he’s given us all something to think about as far as back-up keepers go?

Defenders

Charlie Daniels – What a week for the Bournemouth left back, who managed an impressive 18 points, more than any other player this week, with one goal, an assist and a clean sheet. Bournemouth have found some form recently as they fight against relegation. A few more performances like this from Daniels will be most welcome.

Matt Targett – Since being given an extended run in the first team, the Southampton left back hasn’t disappointed. An assist and clean sheet gives Targett 11pts this week. At £3.7m he has to be a tempting choice for many FPL players.

Ashley Williams – The Swansea centre back was a rock in their 1-0 win over Watford which lifted them out of the relegation zone. A goal, clean sheet and a MOTM display gave Williams 15pts for the week.

Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse – The Southampton midfielder put in a MOTM performance against WBA, scoring two goals to give him a total of 16pts. Southampton will hope that Ward-Prowse can continue his form in the coming weeks as they look to climb the table.

Christian Eriksen – Two goals and three bonus points gives the Tottenham playmaker a total of 15pts for the week, as Spurs put Sunderland to the sword, beating them 4-1.

Cesc Fabregas – The Chelsea midfielder has had a pretty poor season by his standards but was much closer to his best against Everton at the weekend. A goal and an assist, along with a MOTM performance gives Fabregas 13pts for the week.

Georginio Wijnaldum – Newcastle got three much needed points at home to West Ham and can thank Wijnaldum for scoring the opener which put the Magpies ahead. He then assisted the winner, giving him 13 points for the week.

David Silva – The Manchester City maestro was at the heart of City’s attack this week as they thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 at the Etihad. An assist and a goal gives him 12pts for the week, and City will be hoping for more of the same in the coming fixtures as they aim to win their third title in five years.

Forwards

Sergio Aguero – If Manchester City win the league this season it will mainly be down to keeping Aguero and Silva fit. Aguero scored a brace and set up another to score 16pts for the week. He now has three in his last three.

Harry Kane – Kane rounds off this week’s team thanks to a late penalty to add to his assist. 10pts is a good return for the Tottenham striker, who is leading the line for one of the Premier League’s in-form teams.

So how did you do this week? Were there any master-stroke decisions that saw you getting points via Daniels and Targett? Did you put faith in Aguero after his recent return from injury? Let us know @FPL_Updates.
