Gameweek 28 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 28 was a midweek set of fantasy Premier League fixtures, which saw some good performances from the likes of Bournemouth, Everton and Chelsea, and finally some points dropped by Leicester City… but this could not be capitalised upon! Here is how the FPL dream team looked at the end of the week:

FPL Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

David De Gea – Manchester United are now starting to find some form under Louis van Gaal, but the Mourinho rumours don’t stop! They now sit level with City in 4th, separated by just goal difference, but a lot of this is down to their world class keeper keeping them in many games! 8 points this gameweek after a clean sheet, 3 saves and 2 bonus points saw him take his place as the highest scoring goalkeeper in gameweek 28.

Defenders

Steve Cook – The Bournemouth centre back has been enjoying a rich vein of form lately, gaining 15 points this week thanks to a goal and a clean sheet for the Cherries as they beat their south coast rivals Southampton 2-0.

Funes Mori – A goal, assist and bonus points gives Funes Mori 14 points for the week. He played a major role in Everton’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park and has been in good form lately for the Toffees.

Philipp Wollscheid – At 4.5m, the Stoke City defender Wollscheid is a bargain and he returned a tally of 9 points to those 4.1% of FPL managers, thanks to a clean sheet and all 3 bonus points.

Ashley Williams – With a fixture against Arsenal this gameweek, not too much was expected of the Swansea defenders, however they managed to walk away with a 1-2 win! The Swansea captain Williams managed to find the back of the net, which was his second of the season. This coupled with 1 bonus point, earned the Welshman a spot in the gameweek 28 dream team.

Midfielders

Adam Lallana – The first of our Liverpool trio in the middle of the park. Liverpool lost the league cup final at the weekend, but they certainly got revenge with a 3-0 win, as Lallana picked up a goal, an assist and bonus points, earning himself a spot in this week’s dream team. If you watched the game, I’m sure you’ll agree that it was a truly brilliant performance from this lad.

Andy King – With Kante sidelined with an injury, many Leicester fans feared the worst. However, Andy King stepped up during their 2-2 draw with West Brom to allay any fears. The midfielder scored one and set up another to finish with 13 points.

James Milner – The second Liverpool midfielder, Milner, matched Lallana’s performance by bagging a goal and an assist of his own! If Milner keeps performing in the manner he did this gameweek then he may just find himself in the Euro’s squad this summer!

Roberto Firmino – Our hat-trick of Liverpool midfielders ends with Firmino. He also managed (you guessed it) a goal and an assist and this earned the Brazilian bonus points and a spot in the dream team. If only they had performed like this on the weekend then they may also have some silverware!

Michail Antonio – The West Ham midfielder has now scored in 3 of his last 5 Premier League outings and is starting to look like a brilliant FPL option. With Payet in the same position some may go for him instead, however Antonio should not be overlooked. This week he scored the only goal against Spurs. With 3 bonus points, he scored a handsome 11 points and managed to creep into the dream team as the last midfielder.

Striker

Connor Wickham – Crystal Palace’s strikers have really struggled for goals this season, however, Connor Wickham’s double against Sunderland was a relief for Palace supporters. Unfortunately, Palace couldn’t hold onto their lead but Wickham’s goals do mean they took a point away from the game against Sunderland. The striker’s haul of 13 points meant he grabbed the only striker position in the dream team this week. That is now 4 goals in Palace’s last 2 games for Wickham…
