Gameweek 29 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 29 will go down as the gameweek of last minute goals, penalty misses, familiar names on the score sheet and defenders delivering fantasy points. LCFC extended their lead at the top after a 1-nil victory away to Watford, capitalising on the draw in the North London derby in the early KO. At the other end of the table there was heartache for Sunderland as they let in a last minute equaliser whilst Norwich, Newcastle and Villa continue their losing steaks, and Swansea along with Bournemouth are pulling further away from the bottom 3.

Without further ado, here is our gameweek 29 review:

FPL Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

Kasper Schmeichel – Kasper continues to remind us of his dad with some excellent performances and saves, keeping another clean sheet and helping Leicester City to extend their lead at the top.

Defenders

Ashley Williams – Ashley is on a very good run of fixtures, with the first of those having taken place on Saturday afternoon against Norwich. The Welshman picked up a clean sheet and all 3 bonus points.

Virgil van Dijk – A last minute equaliser to deny Sunderland all 3 points meant his team walked away with a draw. Heartbreak for Sunderland but good news for those FPL managers with him in their teams!

Hector Bellerin – The Spanish defender popped up with 2 assists in the North London Derby, gaining all 3 bonus points. An impressive return considering he had to keep an eye on Rose as well as attack.

Midfielders

Joshua King – A goal and an assist for the top player of the week. A brilliant performance by the Norwegian Cherries midfielder helping them to a 3-1 away win to pull further away from the relegation zone. He is owned by 0.2% of FPL managers! At 4.3 million he could be a bargain 5th midfielder for those double gameweeks. You could argue he is a striker with midfielder scores.

Dimitri Payet – With 12 minutes to go and 2 nil down those of us who sold Payet were secretly laughing. Then up stepped arguably one of the players of the season with an assist and a last minute goal helping the Hammers in completely overturning a 2 nil deficit!

Riyad Mahrez – Another candidate for player of the season. The Algerian Foxes midfielder scored his 1st goal in 4 games with a screamer, helping his team to extend their lead at the top of the table and rewarding FPL managers who kept faith in him.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – Gylfi bagged the only goal of the game against Norwich thanks to Fer putting it on a plate for him to slot home. He also went close with a free kick later on but it wasn’t to be. A goal, 2 bonus points and a clean sheet bonus means he makes this week’s team.

Yaya Toure – Yaya made a quick recovery to help get Manchester City back on track in the title race by opening the scoring against a woeful Villa side. At 12.9% fantasy Premier League ownership, he must be considered in the upcoming double gameweeks.

Forwards

Sergio Aguero – Or should we say Aguerrrrrrooooooo! The highest captained player of the GW with plenty of TC chips used! He teased us all by blanking in the 1st half! Even he won’t claim he knew much about his 1st goal but many were jumping for joy when he scored his second, only to be in tears when he missed the chance for a hat-trick from the spot! Still a decent return from the Argentinian.

Mame Biram Diouf – The Stoke striker bagged a late equaliser at Stamford Bridge thanks to a palm out from Courtois meaning his goal was pivotal in rescuing a point. As a result, Diouf picked up all 3 bonus points and completes the dream team for this week!
