Gameweek 7 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

After a quiet FPL weekend last week, everyone expected gameweek 7 to be a banger with hat-tricks, overhead kicks and a few 40 yard screamers. Unfortunately this didn’t all go to plan but the week was still successful, with a range of usuals and a few differentials making up the best 11 of the week. Quite a few surprises, with an Fantasy Premier League average of only 46 points, let’s see where the high scorers were and who you should be looking out for in the coming weeks.

Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

David De Gea – 4 saves and a clean sheet against a struggling Sunderland saw United cruise past the Black Cats 3-0 and to be honest, no one expected anything else. The game also opens up De Gea’s tally of clean sheets for this season, after being sidelined for the beginning of the season for Romero. However he has came back in good fashion as United have won every game since his return and he has had to pull off some crucial saves to secure 3 points time and time again.

Defenders

Virgil Van Dijk – The Southampton defender gets his first dream team position of the season after signing in the latter stages of the transfer window. He was forced to put in a hard day’s work after Swansea continuously tried to hit them with the counter, but they stood strong and allowed their attackers to do the job as they scored 3 to shut down Swansea’s form. His goal edged the game away from Swansea securing all 3 points.

Scott Dann – The Palace centre back put in a solid performance at the weekend, and earned a man of the match award resulting in the 3 bonus points being added to his clean sheet points resulting in 9 for the gameweek. He is quite a good cheap alternative as he is priced at £5m and is a key reason why Crystal Palace have had such a successful start to the season and will continue to do so throughout.

Toby Alderweireld – To round off the back 3, we have the Spurs defender who had the game of his life as he managed to keep the attacking force of City at bay as well as finding himself on the scoresheet. Before the weekend, City had only conceded 2 goals but after a disappointing Champions League result, they are on the decline and the big Spurs defender took advantage to close the game out as a dominant 4-1 victory.

Midfielders

Alexis Sanchez – What a player this man is! A hat-trick in this gameweek saw him open up his tally with sublime style and after a goal frenzy saw Arsenal win 5-2, they will be looking forward to United this weekend, with strikers on form! An impressive 3 goals gave him the man of the match award and 3 bonus points, to leave him with 20 for the week! I’m not even lying when I say I was thinking about making him captain…

Juan Mata – The Spaniard has been quiet for the majority of this season, but this all changed as a goal and an assist saw the Red Devil go into the dream team. After his 3 bonus points he got a total of 15 which he will look to build on in the Champions League as well as the Prem after his disappointing start. However if he does keep that form he will remain one of the Premier League stars!

Erik Lamela – After beating City, it was no doubt that a range of Spurs players would be featured and the second is Lamela! An assist and a goal contributed to him earning the 3 bonus points, giving him his highest tally of the season of 12. He will look to carry this great form into the rest of the season as well as in the Europa League as Tottenham look to challenge for a top 4 finish, now Kane is finally off the mark.

Dusan Tadic – The final midfielder is another Southampton player and after a 3-1 win against Swansea it is no shock that Tadic got on the score sheet after an impressive performance which led to the crucial result. 3 goals for a midfielder at this stage of the season is impressive and if he keeps up this form, he will be looking for a transfer like the rest of the Southampton stars!

Forwards

Romelu Lukaku – The Belgian beast! What didn’t he do this week? 2 goals and an assist saw him earn 15 points. With his goal tally being doubled to 4, he is edging closer to last season’s tally as he looks to keep on improving until the Euros (if they qualify…). A vital 3-2 result for Everton as they climb the table, and Lukaku will have to play a big role if they want to carry on this form. The Europa League will be a test to see if he can stay fit, and which ever they prioritize will be crucial.

Rudy Gestede – Quite an unknown player but the Villa forward scored 2 against Liverpool. Unfortunately his efforts were all for nothing as Liverpool scored 3 before any comeback could be made. He featured a little 2 years ago, but his return to the Premier League has been quite successful, with 3 goals and quite a few video clips to add to his personal collection. Definitiely a player you might be seeing later on in the season! The 26 year old Frenchman has a lot of talent!

Daniel Sturridge – He’s back! Finally, after a continuous injury problem, Sturridge returns by scoring 2 goals to help Liverpool beat Villa 3-2. What a good time to do it too with critics questioning his potential England call up for the Euros. He will look forward to starting for the rest of the season, alongside some more familiar faces rather than the medical staff!
