Gameweek 9 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

After the international break, we were all ready for another week of fantasy premier league and what a week it was! Lots of action for us to look at. One game wonder Aguero is sidelined after another injury and a range of other stars have had their seasons paused due to the international break seeming to tough to handle, as the stretchers came out in force. But lets see who wasn’t injured! Lets look at the FPL dreamteam for gameweek 9, to see where all the action occurred and relatively, where all the points could have been gained.

DreamTeam

Goalkeeper

Myhill – there seems to be a trend here, that everyone who plays Sunderland gets a free clean sheet? Where do I sign up! But a standard performance saw Myhill dive into the team as struggling Sunderland didn’t impose much of a threat to his goal, while Berahino did the business at the other end. His 5th clean sheet of the season will be a nice stat for him as he looks to build on last year’s 4 clean sheets.

Defenders

Smalling – The England defender said he wanted to concrete his spot in the Euro team earlier this week and with an assist this week, along with a consistent start in the United team, he will definitely be up for contention. 2 bonus points and his 5th clean sheet of the season saw off a struggling Everton who just couldn’t get anything to work throughout the game, which saw Martinez’ impressive form come to an end. I wonder if Roy Hodgson plays FPL? Random thought I know…

Bellerin – A similar story for the Gunners defender, as an assist added to his clean sheet against Watford, which saw him get in the dream team with 11 points. It is no wonder this is his second assist of the season when he has players like Sanchez and Walcott around him to finish off. The game simply consisted of Watford being pinned back as Arsenal attacked and attacked.

Rose – Finally in defence, we have Danny Rose with only his second appearance of the season. A clean sheet and an overall solid performance against a revitalized Liverpool took his tally to 9 points for the week and may give the Spurs manager something to think about, as Rose looks to regain first team football in time to be considered for a Euro spot.

Midfielders

Wijnaldum – Yes that is spelt right! He is finally living up to his potential this week, as he tries to replicate Aguero’s performance against his side, but falls short by 1 goal. I doubt he will be too disappointed with 4 though, as the Toon scored as many goals in one game as they have in the rest of the season so far! With the derby forthcoming, he will be hoping he keeps this form, as the star man of this week will look to have an impact on the rest of Newcastle’s season.

Sterling – The 49 million teenager has made a huge impact this week, as a hat-trick added to a 5-1 hammering of a poor Bournemouth as their season has looked to take a turn for the worse. The first half hat-trick was the first of his career and saw him bag 19 points this week. Somehow he failed to get the 3 bonus points? He was criticised about his lack of goals and this might keep the critics quiet for a few weeks as he focuses on the Manchester Derby.

Herrera – A goal, assist and a man of the match performance saw the Spaniard leapfrog into the dream team for the 2nd time this season. Expect this to be a regular occurrence if he keeps up this form. A strong Everton side were shut down by the United squad and Herrera will be looking to secure a first team spot as he struggles to find a consistent run in LVG’s line-ups.

Lanzini – A goal and an assist saw the West Ham playmaker leap into the dream team. It took him 88 minutes to make an impact but it was vital as they took the game by the scruff of its neck to take a 3-1 win against ten man Crystal Palace. However, he will need to increase his goals and assists tally if he looks to guarantee a first team position for the rest of the season.

Sissoko – It’s not everyday there’s 2 Newcastle players in the dream team, but after a hat-trick of assists complementing his teammate’s actual hat-trick, he will be glad to be involved in the build up play as they cruised past Norwich. Sunderland next and a very important game for everyone involved, but with this result, the Geordies will be buzzing with excitement!

Forwards

Bony – 2 goals, an assist and finally 3 bonus points sees Bony lead the forwards this week, as the Ex-Swansea star has been outshone a lot this season. However, this week he gets himself on the scoresheet, with the absence of Aguero giving him the chance to lead the line. His first goals of the season will see him wanting to build on this while he has a consistent spot in the team, whilst the star man recovers. A 63,000 increase was worth it for all the managers who swapped Aguero out.

Vardy – What a few weeks it’s been for this man! With an England assist to his name, and 2 goals this weekend, Roy Hodgson will definitely have to take him into consideration. The Premier League’s top scorer is now on 9 goals and is moving away from the competition. How far can Leicester go before they start to slow down?

My prediction for next week is another hat-trick for a City player against United, but how did the week go for you? Are you looking forward to next week or are you slowly giving up on getting low blows every week? Let us know @FPL_Updates.
