Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 31 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

The League football returned after the international break, which saw some of the big hitters blank, but before we know it we have another gameweek on the horizon. Before we look at gameweek 31’s captaincy analysis, here’s how last week’s picks did:

1. Dele Alli – 6 points
2. Sergio Aguero – 7 points
3. Gylfi Sigurdsson – 3 points
Differential – Jamie Vardy – 7 points
Gamble – Romelu Lukaku – 2 points

Now onto this week’s picks:

1. Philippe Coutinho (BOU)

He’s been missing for a while since his injury but the Merseyside Derby proved to rekindle something inside him as he produced a magnificent performance, scoring and assisting against his rival team. This week, Coutinho and his team take on Bournemouth and without Mane, Liverpool will need their Brazilian to perform better, and he could also be playing in a more advanced role which could see him score a few more points than usual. He’s owned by 19%, however many of those are ghost ships so he could prove to be a decent captain as he won’t be chosen by many!

2. Jamie Vardy (SUN)

Since the sacking of Claudio Ranieri, Vardy has started to perform better under his new manager, Craig Shakespeare. With 4 goals and 2 assists in 4 games, he’s on the form that we were so used to seeing last season, and with a home game against Sunderland who are poor at the back, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get at least one goal on Tuesday. Sunderland have been reliant on Pickford to stop them from losing, however they won’t be able to stop Vardy, especially in this form!

3. Wilfried Zaha (SOU)

Palace pulled off one of the shocks of the season, coming from behind to beat the league leaders Chelsea to win 2-1. Zaha was a massive part of why they overcame the odds to beat them. He was magnificent, from start to finish. With a goal and an assist, and a goal in his previous game, Zaha is on fire at the moment and could prove to be a differential too, especially considering how good he has been! They take on Southampton this week, a team who have only kept 4 clean sheets in their last 16 games, so can Zaha replicate his performance?

Differential – Kamil Grosicki (MID)

Ignoring his striking resemblance to Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald, Grosicki has been a key reason as to why Hull have been performing so well at home. With 4 assists in his last 5 games (2 of those games, he played only one half), he’s proved to be a big differential option as he’s only owned by 0.3% of FPL managers. They play at home this week against Boro, and as Hull are yet to lose at the KCOM under Marco Silva, I think Grosicki could get a decent amount of points again!

Gamble – Sergio Aguero (CHE)

He’s been in good form since the injury to Gabriel Jesus (3 goals in 4 games), but an away game to Chelsea will prove to be a difficult task as they are the second best home team in the league this season. However, Chelsea did suffer a shock defeat to Palace at home on Saturday so Aguero will definitely fancy his chances against Chelsea, and it could prove to be a big one in the chase for the league title!
