Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 8 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 7 seems like a long time ago, but with the international break now more or less over, we can start to look forward to gameweek 8 and more importantly, the captaincy analysis!

Firstly, as always, lets take a look at last weeks picks. Continuing with the theme, this season is becoming harder to predict which players are going to bring in those fantasy points. It is becoming clearer which teams will perform, but the players seem take their turn on who will bring in the fantasy points. This is evidently clear within the Liverpool midfield, maybe we should just own them all? Anyway, here is how last weeks somewhat disappointing picks did:

1. Alexis Sanchez – 3 points
2. Segio Aguero – 2 points
3. Philippe Coutinho – 2 points
Differential – Marcus Rashford – 2 points
Gamble – Eden Hazard – 3 points

So, as mentioned, they weren’t the best, but we have no doubt that these players will bring in the points in the coming weeks. Here’s this weeks picks:

1. Alexis Sanchez (SWA)

Arsene Wenger has seemingly been playing Sanchez up top for Arsenal and so far the Chilean has picked up 4 goals and 2 assists in his more central role for the Gunners. Arsenal host Swansea on Saturday afternoon who themselves have had a busy week, sacking Italian Francesco Guidolin and replacing him with American Bob Bradley. You’d imagine Bradley will not have had much time to implement his style by the time they kick off at the Emirates and given Arsenal’s good form, they should win and win well. Given his listing as a midfielder the Chilean could prove a very attractive proposition this week.

2. Sergio Aguero (EVE)

This game sees the clash of two teams who have started the season very well. This fixture could well be a cracker and with all indications showing Sergio Aguero will be fine to lead the City attack, so FPL managers should give the Argentine some consideration. The new manger has got his City side playing some incredible football and I’m sure he will be very keen to improve on their defeat to Spurs leading into the international break. Guardiola has brought the best out of those who give Aguero his service, so you can bet any trouble Aguero faces on Saturday won’t be down to a lack of service. With his 5 goals this term and a very impressive minute to goal ratio of only 88 minutes, Sergio Aguero is an obvious captaincy choice regardless of opposition.

3. Diego Costa (LEI)

Chelsea host Leicester in the Saturday lunchtime kick off and that alone may tempt some superstitious managers away from the Spanish forward, however if you’re still reading, then its definitely worth giving Costa a thought. Currently the league’s top scorer with 6 goals, Costa is defiantly the shining light in a Chelsea side which so far have struggled to perform as many expected. Champions Leicester are struggling at the moment and find themselves in a lowly 12th position. With Eden Hazard, Willian and Fabregas looking considerably sharper this campaign, Costa is receiving great support and this is likely to continue against a struggling Leicester backline.

Differential – Charlie Austin (BUR)

Charlie Austin has been at Southampton since January, but in his first season on the south coast, he failed to really get going. But after starting on the bench this season, Claude Puel has put faith in the former QPR man and with 2 goals in his last 2 outings. Southampton host Burnley this Sunday and the Clarets look industrious as ever, but without striker Andre Gray, Burnley look a bit toothless and you can bet Southampton will be confident this weekend. Given the form of Austin, he is shaping up to be a differential pick of real class.

Gamble – Christian Benteke (WHU)

The new arrival has found his feet straight away in a Palace team who are certainty playing to the Belgians strength. A header at Everton in gameweek 6 earned Palace a very good point and was the second goal for the big striker. This week Palace face something of a local derby against West Ham who have endured a torrid start to life at the London Stadium and find themselves in the relegation zone. The Hammers defence look weak right now and if you’re after a slightly different captain Benteke may just be your man.

Thanks for reading and good luck this week!
