Differentials XI – Gameweek 4 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

We hope everyone’s feeling revived and rejuvenated after the international break, raring to go for some Premier League action! With fantasy football back this week, the Differentials XI needed a re-shuffle, with a few players over the 10% marker and a few dilemmas…

Here’s how the Differentials XI looked at the end of gameweek 3:

Differentials XI

It was a successful week for the FPL Updates Differentials XI. We jumped from around 2.4 million to 2.2 million with a bang on average points haul of 42 points. Yes, I know, the overall rank still isn’t impressive but a small gain is better than a red arrow! Remember, the idea of the Differentials XI isn’t to challenge up at the top of the overall rankings but it is more aimed at giving our readers a few ideas of those higher scoring players under the radar.

Here’s this week’s squad:

Differentials XI

Starting XI: Forster (4.5%), Ward (1.0%), Simpson (2.4%), Terry (5.5%), De Bruyne (5.4%), Sigurdsson (5.1%), Deulofeu (2.6%), Townsend (4.8%), Mirallas (4.4%), Rooney (6.2%), Lukaku (7.5%)

Bench: Mandanda (3.7%), Grabban (3.9%), Taylor (0.6%), Valencia (12.4%).

For once, not owning Sergio Aguero actually might help! Following his ban in gameweek 3, over half of the FPL managers in the world will have all of their attention on that. Many will turn to an early wildcard or a few point hits so I’ve got my fingers crossed for back to back green arrows!

In the net I’m sticking with Forster. He’s shaken off a knock and should be fit for the trip to the Emirates according to his manager. I’m not hopeful of a clean sheet so lets hope he makes a few saves to get some extra points! The defence includes 2 uber differentials with Ward and Simpson both coming in with under 2.5% ownership. The English right backs’ sides haven’t had the best start to the season but we all know what they are capable of. Both aren’t internationals so in theory will be fighting fit and up for their matches at the weekend. Completing the defence is Terry. I’m a little worried about this pick. The deadline day acquisition of former defender David Luiz certainly throws a spanner into the works. What will Conte do? Deploy Luiz in a deep lying midfield role and drop one of Matic or Kante or slot him in to central defence and displace one of Cahill and Terry? I’m just hoping Conte has faith in the back line that has recorded 4 straight wins in all competitions this season.

Moving into midfield I’ve still got Townsend. Impressive underlying stats but failing to deliver. If it wasn’t for more pressing issues in the squad, he’d be near the exit door. The same has to be said for a number of my midfield players. Sigurdsson must be scratching his head as to how he’s still in my team. Frankly the only reason is due to Diego Costa exceeding the ownership threshold. The double Toffees midfield didn’t exactly work a treat did it? (What a pun!) I was left with a bitter taste (I promise I’ll stop) in my mouth when Mirallas blanked while Deulofeu didn’t even make it onto the pitch. As predicted in last week’s article, the arrival of Bolasie is making life difficult. Spending so much on a player means he’s pretty much guaranteed to start when fit so it’s a straight toss up between the two players I have on my side. At least one’s going to play!

The big match this week is undoubtedly the Manchester derby. You’ve got to have some coverage in your team, right!? De Bruyne is mine from the blue side of Manchester and Rooney from the red. Let’s hope for an entertaining, goal scoring affair where a certain Swede doesn’t do anything. That will boost my ranking!

Finally completing my side is Romelu Lukaku. Is he a goalscorer? Yes. Is he in form? No. That’s the only reason he’s a differential. The big Belgian grabs 15 goals a season with ease and apparently was Juventus’ first choice over Gonzalo Higuain so he obviously has talent. Let’s hope he has his shooting boots on as he’s got the armband for me.

Hopefully this article has given you a few ideas on picks that aren’t as popular for this forthcoming week. All the best this gameweek; may your arrows be green.
