FPL Gameweek 34 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 34 saw another double gameweek and it saw some popular picks such as Alvaro Negredo and Marcus Rashford blank, whilst some differential picks such as Anthony Martial and Marten de Roon pick up some respectable tallies. Before we continue our FPL gameweek 34 review, here is how the fantasy Premier League dream team looked at the end of the week:

FPL Gameweek 34 Review

Goalkeeper

David De Gea – With a double gameweek, the United shot stopper managed the joint highest tally of 17 points. Incredibly, 737 FPL managers triple captained him, giving them a total of 51 points just from their captain!

Defenders

Charlie Daniels – Bournemouth’s Daniels was the joint highest scoring defender of the week with 14 points. A goal, clean sheet and 2 bonus was achieved as Bournemouth brushed aside Middlesbrough 4-0, which should have secured the Cherries safety as they currently sit 13th in the league.

Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian & Eric Bailly – Joint with Daniels, we also saw Blind score 14 fantasy points, whilst two other Manchester United defenders in the form of Darmian and Bailly scored 12 points, making it a United trio in defence. Manchester United have now kept 5 clean sheets in their last 6 fixtures, making some form of United defensive coverage a must in fantasy football. In this gameweek however, they saw out a 0-0 draw with their City rivals, albeit going down to 10 men in the final 10 minutes, and they also managed to brush aside Burnley in a 0-2 away win.

Nacho Monreal – Arsenal’s Monreal is our final defender in a back 5, as he scored a total of 12 points thanks to a clean sheet, assist and 3 bonus points. Arsenal ended up coming out 1-0 victors against a stubborn Leicester side and with 2 double gameweeks coming up, many will be looking to the Spaniard as a route into the Arsenal defence.

Midfielders

Anthony Martial – The fifth and final Manchester United player in gameweek 34’s dream team is midfielder Martial. Scoring the joint highest (17), the young Frenchman managed to score 14 of his points in his first fixture against Burnley as he bagged a goal, an assist and 3 bonus points. Owned by just 2.5% of fantasy managers, it’s fair to say he was quite the differential this week and with another double gameweek around the corner, he could turn out to be quite a popular choice.

Marc Pugh – A rare appearance in the FPL dream team for Marc Pugh, as Bournemouth’s midfielder picked up a goal and an assist in their 4-0 demolition of Middlesbrough. Owned by just 0.1% of fantasy managers, Pugh’s 14 points return will not have benefitted many managers but it was his second double figure tally this season!

Marten de Roon – The only Middlesbrough player to feature in this week’s dream team, despite a double gameweek against Bournemouth and Sunderland. Many opted for Alvaro Negredo, but de Roon was brought in by just under 20k fantasy managers last gameweek and he certainly rewarded them with a goal against Sunderland, along with all 3 bonus points, giving him a total tally of 12 points.

Forwards

Diego Costa – The third highest captain choice of gameweek 34 rewarded it’s FPL owners, as Costa was the highest scoring forward with 14 points. Costa and Chelsea came out 4-2 winners against the Saints, with Costa scoring 2 and grabbing an assist, which turned out to be his first goal in 6 gameweeks!

Christian Benteke – Just like de Roon, Benteke is the only player featuring from his team (Crystal Palace), who had a double gameweek. Although Palace had a double gameweek, they weren’t fancied too much by FPL managers as the two fixtures were against Liverpool and Spurs. That being said however, Benteke came back to haunt his former employers with 2 goals, as Palace came out victorious against the Reds, scoring his fantasy managers 14 points!
