FPL Updates XI – Gameweek 27 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Cheers Harry Kane! Before his painfully brilliant performance on Sunday we had posted a fairly tolerable score, given the blanks, and probably wouldn’t have been looking at a drop of about 200k places. As it is we are now down outside the top 1.5m and have a mountain to climb over the coming weeks.

As mentioned before, we are now in the midst of the toughest part of the season. Navigating the blanks and doubles is a skill and will inevitably define your season. So make sure every transfer is now made with those in mind. Before we look at our moves for gameweek 27 let’s have a quick glance at last week’s points.

Again it may have only been a point but we got the keeper choice wrong once more. It’s almost becoming a talent being able to get it wrong so often. The law of odds suggests this I’d get it right at least once!

Mixed bag at the back. Leighton Baines picked up a clean sheet and 6pts whilst Chris Brunt and Marcos Alonso picked up a basic 2 and Erik Pieters’ zero was a bi-product of Harry Kane’s one man mauling of Stoke. The highlights of his first half on Sunday wouldn’t look out of place on more than a few XNXX categories. Don’t Google it kids.

Our midfield was missing Kevin De Bruyne in an big way and with all hopes on Sadio Mane he duly delivered……2pts. Etienne Capoue also scored 2 whilst Tom Davies at least scored 3.

Up top is where we had a little more joy. Well to be fair we needed it as this is where we made our biggest moves last week. In came Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku. Rom was given the armband and Cost the vice captaincy. Both scored and missed bonus so 18pts combined just about justified the hit taken.

With red arrows in the rear view mirror it’s time to turn our attentions to GW27. A gameweek that has now taken on a completely different light given Manchester City’s midweek win over Huddersfield. A double gameweek sandwiched snugly in between two blank weeks is a logistical nightmare like no other in FPL. You need to ensure you maximise your points and cover this week without hindering you next week when just eight teams play. With that in mind here’s our transfers this week.

Alonso (OUT) – Stones (IN)
Costa (OUT) – Aguero (IN)

We’ve taken a hit but when a team has a DGW and the teams being faced are Sunderland and Stoke, you make the moves. We have been stung by John Stones before but for £4.7m and given that he has started the last three on the bounce we will risk it. Plus he’s cheap enough to allow us to upgrade to Aguero.

Ben Foster starts in goal at home to Crystal Palace. Surely, surely we will get it right this week. Palace have scored just three goals in their last six and two of those were against Bournemouth, who everyone scores against. Eldin Jakupovic is away to a newly resurgent Leicester team so will sit on the bench this week.

In defence we are running with a four man back line. Both John Stones and Erik Pieters have doubles whilst Chris Brunt, like Foster, has Crystal Palace and Leighton Baines is against Spurs. Unpredictable week but I’d be disappointed if we didn’t score at least 12-16pts across the four.

We have a nice looking midfield three as Kevin De Bruyne leads the way with his double. Granted, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane might be more appealing City options given their price tags but 7.7% ownership for one of the best players in the league is still very low. Alongside him is Sadio Mane at home to Arsenal and Matty Phillips against Palace. Hopefully Mane can replicate his performance from GW1 when he terrorised the Arsenal defence. Matt Phillips on the other hand just needs to do something. No returns since GW20 he’s only still in because he played in GW26 and has a GW28 fixture.

Up top and why would we start anywhere else than Sergio Aguero. Looking sharp, no Gabriel Jesus stealing away game time and fixtures against Sunderland and Stoke it means only one thing……TRIPLE CAPTAIN! At this point I think it would be harder to justify that there will be a better DGW option down the line for the chip to be used so it’s in play. Following Stoke’s 4-0 defeat last week they have now conceded four goals in a game on six separate occasions in the league this season, including a 4-1 loss in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. A game that Aguero picked up 13pts in. I could also sit here and go into detail about the Sunderland defensive plight but we all know how woeful they are at the back. I hadn’t expected to use the chip this early on but that’s exactly what we are doing and if we don’t see some green arrows off of the back of it then that’s just plain crazy. Next to him we have Christian Benteke who I’m actually hope blanks given our WBA cover and then Romelu Lukaku away to Spurs.

So there’s our line up. 4pt hit taken but four players on a DGW and still have 7/8 players for the following week before any transfers. We are looking in a fairly good place right now but I have been saying that all season! I suspect this week is going to need a minimum 55-60pts for green arrows and I think we’ve got that in the locker here.

Good luck to all and if there is any late advice needed just let us know.
