Sergio Aguero FPL Replacements – Fantasy Premier League Tips

The Saturday lunch time kick off saw a top of the table clash, which ended on a sour note as both Aguero and Fernandinho both saw red after the 90 minutes. Sergio Aguero was dismissed for a ridiculous lunge on David Luiz and with a minimum 4 game ban; many FPL managers will be giving the Argentine the boot. Priced at 13.0m, and falling, you can afford any FPL forward you like and it would be silly to just bench the expensive fantasy forward.

So who should you bring in? Lets take a look at the candidates for Sergio Aguero’s replacement.

Diego Costa (10.7m, 45.9% TSB)

The obvious replacement is Chelsea’s Diego Costa, who has been in terrific form this season. Many fantasy football managers have wanted to include him in their teams, however with Costa one booking away from a suspension, many have held off. To rub it in, he picked up his first 4 bookings in the first 6 gameweeks and since he has scored 6 times and assisted 4 times. Chelsea have a terrific run too, with a next 5 of West Brom (H), Sunderland (A), Crystal Palace (A), Bournemouth (H) and Stoke (H). Other than the potential of a suspension, it is hard to make an argument for not owning Diego Costa.

Harry Kane (9.0m, 13.2% TSB)

Tottenham’s main man celebrated signing a new 6 year contract by scoring 2 goals against Swansea, and Harry Kane looks to be back to his best since returning from his recent injury. Harry Kane has 21 goals in 28 appearances in 2016; coincidentally only Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has a better record with 27 goals. Spurs do have a tough fixture next week against Manchester United, but after this they have a good run, with the following 4 fixtures being; Hull (H), Burnley (H), Southampton (A) and Watford (A).

Jermain Defoe (7.7m, 21.3% TSB)

Defoe just can’t stop scoring, having scored 8 this season and 19 goals in 2016, only Harry Kane (21) and Sergio Aguero (27) are ahead of him. Defoe also loves a goal in December, scoring 24 goals in the Premier League in this month, with historically only 3 others scoring more. This is all good reading for those that want to bring in the Sunderland striker for the festive period. However, fixtures wise, Sunderland have a mixed run over the next 5 of Swansea (A), Cheslea (H), Watford (H), Manchester United (A) and Burnley (A).

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.1m, 26.3% TSB)

Zlatan has managed to score 8 goals this season, but has been somewhat inconsistent this campaign, as have his team Manchester United. United have been doing well in the cup and if they can convert this form into the league, then some form of Man United fantasy football cover may be needed. Next week, United face Spurs, but after that they have an impressive run of Crystal Palace (A), West Brom (A), Sunderland (H), Middlesbrough (H) and West Ham (A).

Charlie Austin (6.9m, 17.3% TSB)

Southampton’s forward has started to find some of the form that he had when he played for QPR in the Premier League back in 2014/15. With 2 goals in his last 4, he will want to improve on this and with some of the fixtures the Saints have coming up, he should have plenty of opportunities to do so. Southampton have a brilliant run, with a next 5 of Middlesbrough (H), Stoke (A), Bournemouth (A), Tottenham (H) and West Brom (H).
