Fantasy Football Potential – Alexis Sanchez

Manchester United have made the biggest signing of the January window so far, with the acquisition of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean was involved in a swap deal, with out of favour Henrik Mkhitaryan leaving United after seemingly falling out with Jose Mourinho.

Sanchez is arguably one of the best players in the Premier League, but hasn’t shown off all his talent this campaign. He does have 7 goals and 5 assist to his name so far but that is a clear drop from last season’s tally of 24 goals and 11 assists.

Alexis said:

“Since I was a young lad I’ve always said that my dream was to play for Manchester United, and I’m not just saying that because I’m here now and today it’s come true. I always said as a kid that I’d like to play for United and I once spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson about it.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential

Sanchez is the third most expensive midfielder on FPL and with his current points tally totalling 97, he certainly hasn’t been value for money. However his move up to the red half of Manchester might spark the quality that we all know he possesses.

At 11.7m he is going to a hole in your budget, but once he gets going he can quite easily replicate the form of Fantasy Premier League top scorer Mo Salah. That said, it may be worth waiting until after the Spurs game to bring him in because he needs time to embed into the squad and his price shouldn’t rise in the mean time.

Manchester United’s next five fixtures are as follows: Tottenham (A), Huddersfield (H), Newcastle (A), Chelsea (H) and Crystal Palace (A). These set of fixtures do have a wide variety to them but bringing in or having a United attacker throughout these could be a master stroke, so Sanchez could become a great option very soon.
