Fantasy Football Potential – Fernando Llorente

Tottenham Hotspur have signed Swansea striker Fernando Llorente for a fee believed to be around £12 million. The Spaniard was linked with Chelsea throughout the Summer but has eventually made the switch to Spurs, which was confirmed after the deadline.

Fernando Llorente was a key component to Swansea’s season last campaign as he scored a very impressive 15 goals, which evidently lead to the Swans’ survival for another season in England’s top flight. At international level he has a respectable 7 goals in 24 appearances.

Here’s what Llorente had to say about his move;

“I’m very happy to join Tottenham, an amazing Club and I can only say I come here to help Tottenham try to win titles. I’m very excited to come here. I think Harry Kane is an amazing striker and I’m very happy to play with him and the other players.”

Fantasy Football Potential

The veteran forward was originally priced at 7.5m, but due to his lack of games this season, his price has dropped slightly. His 7.4m price does obviously make him considerably cheaper than Kane, but he will get significantly less game time than the Englishman and will mostly feature from the bench.

He is also currently out injured with an arm injury, so there is doubt that he will make his debut in Tottenham’s next fixture, which is away to Everton. I believe he will be higher in the pecking order than Janssen, but I don’t think he is a viable FPL option, unless Kane is out long term.

Tottenham’s next five fixtures are as follows: Everton (A), Swansea (H), West Ham (A), Huddersfield (A) and Bournemouth (A). Llorente could make his debut in a Spurs shirt against his previous employers Swansea, which is followed by some favourable fixtures.
