Fantasy Football Potential – Nahki Wells

Burnley have signed Huddersfield striker Nahki Wells for a fee believed to be around £5 million. The Bermudan forward will seemingly be a direct replacement for Andre Gray who departed Turf Moor earlier in the transfer window.

Nahki Wells scored 10 goals last season in all competitions and was a key component to Huddersfield’s promotion campaign. He is a very similar player to Gray as they both use their lightning pace to get in behind defences and both have the end product to score goals.

Here’s what Wells had to say about his move;

“I have played at every level besides the Premier League. I achieved that by getting promoted (with Huddersfield) and it wasn’t something that was going to change. I have always wanted to play there. Now the opportunity is here and I’m very thankful to the football club to give it to me. I feel I can go on and do great things.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Nahki Wells has been priced at 5.0m, which if he can get a good spell of games under his belt, could turn out to be a bargain. Currently, the forward is out injured due to an on-going ankle injury which has meant he still hasn’t had his first taste of Premier League experience.

Before he made his move to Huddersfield he was previously at fellow Yorkshire club Bradford where he scored an impressive 42 goals in 91 league matches. We can take from this that he has the quality to score at League One level, but does he have what it takes to score goals in England’s top flight?

Burnley’s next five fixtures are as follows: Crystal Palace (H), Liverpool (A), Huddersfield (H), Everton (A) and West Ham (H). Wells will miss a couple of these fixtures as the striker’s expected return date from injury is the 23rd of September.
