Fantasy Football Potential – Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Crystal Palace have signed highly rated youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Manchester United on a season long loan deal. The Dutchman joins the Eagles due to a lack of first team opportunities at United and will have the chance to grow as a player with Palace.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah played just 97 minutes of Premier League football last season, which is hindering the growth of the teenager. This loan move to Palace could help him show how good he really is and help him push into the United’s first team in the coming years.

Here’s what Fosu-Mensah said about his move to Palace:

“I still have a lot to learn and therefore getting the opportunity to play more games on a regular basis will help my development”

Fantasy Premier League Potential

Fosu-Mensah is priced at a very generous price of £4.5m. This will make the Dutchman the cheapest way of getting a Crystal Palace starting defender. However, he isn’t a guaranteed starter this weekend as he has just signed but he’ll be looking to make a quick impression on Ronald de Boer.

As well as playing in defence, Fosu-Mensah can play defensive midfield but at this point we don’t know where de Boer is going to utilise his fellow Dutchman. Also his ownership on FPL is currently very low at 0.5% because he has only recently completed his move. Overall, I would wait a couple of gameweeks to see what role he has to play at Crystal Palace and take it from there.

Crystal Palace’s opening fixtures are as follows: Huddersfield (h), Liverpool (a), Swansea (h), Burnley (a) and Southampton (h). These fixtures are very favourable for Palace, meaning players from the London side will be key to early success for FPL managers.
