FPL Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 16 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Last week we saw Harry Kane blank once again, testing fantasy football managers’ patience even more! The star man of the week was Philippe Coutinho with 18 points, but our number one pick last week, Eden Hazard, also performed well with 15 points.

Here’s how our other picks did from last week’s FPL Captaincy Analysis:

1. Eden Hazard – 15 points
2. Mohamed Salah – 5 points
3. Harry Kane – 2 points
Differential – Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 12 points
Gamble – Leroy Sane – 2 points

Now onto this week’s picks:

1. Eden Hazard (WHU)

Hazard is definitely creeping into the ‘must-own’ category now in FPL, and if you watched the game last week, you’d understand why. He scored 2, however he certainly could have had 4 or 5 goals if it wasn’t for poor finishing and great goalkeeping from Karl Darlow. The Newcastle defence couldn’t handle Hazard, and he even scored another in the midweek game in the UCL, proving how much of a threat he is in front of goal! This week, Chelsea take on one of the worst defences in the league, West Ham, and it has the potential to be an exciting game because Hazard could run riot against the Hammers! He’s only owned by 12% too, which could be considered as a differential ownership percentage, so if he does do well, you’ll climb the rankings in no time!

2. Mohamed Salah (EVE)

Surprisingly, Salah didn’t score last week against Brighton. However, he did provide an assist, which is quite disappointing for the Egyptian, especially considering how good he’s been this season. This week, Liverpool take on Everton in the derby at Anfield, a match that Everton haven’t won since 1999 and a match they always seem to capitulate in. Liverpool seem to find it easy to beat Everton, and I’m predicting that will happen again, especially when you realise Salah, Mane, Coutinho and Firmino will be charging at an extremely slow defence in Martina, Jagielka and Williams! Salah is owned by 50% of managers so he is likely to be the most popular captaincy choice, so I’d recommend Salah for safety!

3. Romelu Lukaku (MCI)

I’m sticking my neck on the line for this one, however Lukaku is well overdue a goal in the League. He scored in the midweek match in the UCL and has provided several goal scoring chances for his team mates, however he seems to be the ‘assister of the assist’ too many times. Man City have been in terrific form, but without Stones, they seem to be disorganised and have only kept 1 clean sheet in the last 6 gameweeks, proving how influential Stones is. Many will be predicting a City win, however at Old Trafford, United will look to hit City on the counter and try to do the same tactic as they did at Arsenal, which could mean Lukaku could grab his overdue goal. He’s been shipped out by 1.2m people in the last 7 gameweeks and could be a useful captain as only ghost ships will be captaining him now.

Differntial – Alexis Sanchez (SOU)

Sanchez hasn’t been in bad form this season, however considering how good he was last season, he’s been poor. However, with 3 goals in the last 4 games, and only owned by 2%, he could prove to be a great differential. Managers may look at his price and be put off, however he’s been in much better form than Harry Kane, who is priced exactly the same, and Alexis was unlucky not to score/assist last week (De Gea was absolutely phenomenal against them, and Ramsey decided not to convert his fantastic cross!). An away game to Bournemouth is next for Sanchez and Arsenal, who have only kept 4 clean sheets all season, so Sanchez could score again and increase his goal tally.

Gamble – Harry Kane (STK)

Harry Kane being a gamble seems strange, however he has been in really poor form in the last few weeks. He has only scored 2 goals in the last 6 gameweeks, hence why he’s a gamble for this week, because Spurs desperately need to get out of this horrific form their currently in, otherwise they’ll slip down the table even more. This week, Kane takes on a Stoke team who have been poor defensively, keeping only 1 clean sheet since gameweek 2!
