FPL Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 33 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 33 is here and if your captaincy choice wasn’t already crucial, it becomes even more pivotal in the weeks to come! As always, before we look at this week’s captaincy contenders, here’s how last week’s picks did:

1. Mohamed Salah – 7 points
2. Romelu Lukaku – 8 points
3. Kevin De Bruyne – 5 points
Differential – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 13 points
Gamble – Heung-Min Son – 5 points

Now let’s examine this week’s picks for your armband.

1. Harry Kane (STK)

After returning much sooner than everyone expected (by the way, Kane does this quite often after an injury), everyone may struggle to get Kane back in, considering how well Aubameyang and Lukaku did in the previous few weeks. He’s the most expensive player on FPL, meaning that some people will almost certainly have to leave him out of their squads for this week, which is perfect for those who stuck with Kane, as they take on a Stoke side who have been defensively poor all season. Spurs are no longer in the Champions League meaning that, unlike Salah, he has a week to rest, so he’s probably going to start this week.

2. Mohamed Salah (EVE)

Pains me to say this as an Everton fan, but *if* Salah starts, he’s probably going to tear Everton’s defence apart. Allardyce has given up, their defence looks so frail and weak, and considering how well Man City did last week, it wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool do the same. However, this is somewhat of a risky second pick due to that big second leg in the Champions League against Man City on Tuesday and the fact Salah went off with an injury in the first leg. This may lead Klopp to completely ruling out Salah for the derby as it perhaps isn’t a risk worth taking.

3. Jamie Vardy (NEW)

After producing a very late goal in their last match, it means that Vardy has now scored 6 goals in his past 8 games, an impressive record for the England striker and he has seemingly gone under the radar of many FPL managers. This week, Leicester take on Newcastle at home, who have only kept 2 away clean sheets all season, indicating that Vardy may end up on the scoresheet again.

Differential – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (SOU)

Aubameyang captainers would have had a mixed reaction to the Arsenal match last week. Auba scored 2 goals, but he could have had a hat-trick if he didn’t selflessly hand the ball over to Lacazette for the second Arsenal penalty. With that being said, Auba captainers definitely would have been pleased with his brace, which was more than Salah scored in that week, a gamble that certainly paid off! He’s now scored 4 goals and assisted once in his past 3 matches, and is only owned by 10% of FPL managers! If you don’t own Kane, I’d certainly suggest going for the Gabonese striker, as he also has a relatively easy fixture against Southampton, another team who have struggled defensively all season, and a team that look likely to be relegated!

Gamble – Romelu Lukaku (MCI)

Man City have the chance to wrap up the league title against their Manchester rivals, and let’s be honest, they’ll probably take it. Lukaku never seems to turn up against the bigger sides, however over the years, he has popped up on the scoresheet against Man City, scoring once in a 4-0 win and in a 1-1 draw for Everton last season. However, with City probably determined to win this one, and the fact they’ve been absolutely impeccable all season, I can’t see Lukaku extending that good form of his against City.

Thanks for reading and good luck!
