FPL Updates XI – FPL Gameweek 19 – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 18 saw the FPL Updates XI hit 47 points, 5 points below the gameweek average, which meant it was a first red arrow for seven gameweeks! The good run has come to an end, but with the games coming thick and fast we will look to get back to green arrow ways!

The goalkeeper curse seems to have been cured as we played Nick Pope who saw out a 0-0 draw with Brighton, bringing home 6 points! Elliot was benched, scoring just 3 points, but more importantly he is back in the Newcastle starting XI.

In defence, 3 of our players scored 0 points, as Kolasinac and Kiko Femenia didn’t play. Maguire on the other hand conceded 3 and picked up a yellow card meaning he also scored nothing! With Kolasinac and Kiko Femenia not playing, we did have some luck as Masuaku came in with 5 points. Last up was Phil Jones who scored just 2 points.

Midfield was a mixed bag as Mohamed Salah and Wilfried Zaha scored an impressive 8 points a piece. Unfortunately David Silva and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting didn’t play and Richarlison scored just 2 points.

Finally up top the mixed bag theme continues. Captain Kane blanked, as per usual, Jamie Vardy joined him, but Roberto Firmino scored one, assisted another and walked away with 12 points.

Swiftly moving on, this week we have gone with 2 transfers:

Maguire (OUT) -> Robertson (IN)
Silva (OUT) -> Sterling (IN)

Maguire is out for Robertson, mainly to fund our second move and with David Silva a doubt for the gameweek, we’ve taken the opportunity to upgrade him to Raheem Sterling.

Here’s how the FPL Updates XI line up for gameweek 19:

This week we have started Rob Elliot over Nick Pope, mainly due to the favourable fixture, although with the way Harry Kane has been blanking, Pope probably has just as much of a chance of a clean sheet!

At the back we have Sead Kolasinac, Phil Jones and Arthur Masuaku, playing Liverpool, Leicester and Newcastle. Not the most ideal set of fixtures, but we’ll run with it as we go into the festive fixtures.

In midfield, Wilfried Zaha comes up against a Swansea side who sacked their manager this week and another 8 point return would be more than welcomed. Watford’s Richarlison also has a favourable fixture against Brighton, however with 3 red cards in 3 games for Watford, we’ll be happy with a 2 point return! Friday night football this week sees Arsenal host Liverpool in which Mohamed Salah will play and hopefully find the back of the net. Currently Salah is the league’s top scorer and if you haven’t got him in your team, you should really question why! Finally, it’s the new boy, Raheem Sterling. Hosting Bournemouth this week, City will no doubt put a couple in the back of the net and be top of the league come the new year.

Up top we keep with the same three. Roberto Firmino and Jamie Vardy have tough fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester United respectively. Harry Kane on the other hand faces Burnley, without their central defender, Tarkowski, who is banned. Captain material this week? We’ll let you decide below:

Best of luck this gameweek and we shall be back on Christmas Day for the gameweek 20 article!
