Gameweek 17 FPL Preview – Fantasy Premier League Tips

We have a midweek gameweek on our hands & rotations will be a factor for all FPL teams as Premier League sides start the busy festive period…

Good luck & may your arrows be green!

Burnley vs Stoke

The Clarets as usual put in a great home performance, winning the game against Watford and also keeping another clean sheet. This time, they are up against a Stoke City team who are poor defensively and don’t have a great away record. Certainly looks like another home win for the Clarets.

STAR MAN: Stephen Ward (5.1m)

Has always been defensively sound and can chip in with an assist as well.

PREDICTION: Burnley 2-0 Stoke

Crystal Palace vs Watford

The Eagles have been gritty and haven’t let their opponents dominate them ever since the arrival of Hodgson which has extended their unbeaten streak to 5 now. Watford on the other hand are comfortably in the top half of the table and don’t have much to worry about. The Eagles will be looking to go all guns blazing and might just scrape through to victory at home.

STAR MAN: Christian Benteke (7.6m)

Was slammed by his manager for taking and missing the penalty last time out and he will be looking to make amends for that.

PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 2-1 Watford

Huddersfield vs Chelsea

Poor Huddersfield, having done ok so far this season, now have a lot to worry about in defence. Although a home win was a great result last time out, a visit from the Blues who suffered defeat at the hands of the Hammers seems like a very tough fixture. Can only see one way traffic in this one.

STAR MAN: Eden Hazard (10.9m)

The Belgian will have the onus on him to provide the attacking opportunities for his team.

PREDICTION: Huddersfield 0-3 Chelsea

Newcastle vs Everton

Newcastle are in really poor form and they must get out of it soon as they continue to get closer to the bottom three. Everton on the other hand are looking good under Big Sam and after earning a point away at Anfield in the Merseyside derby, they will be looking to get all three points in this fixture.

STAR MAN: Gylfi Sigurdsson (8.0m)

In great form recently and can be incisive in his passing to crack the Newcastle defence.

PREDICTION: Newcastle 0-2 Everton

Southampton vs Leicester

Southampton showed yet again how unpredictable they can be in their 1-1 draw at home to the Gunners where they certainly played great football. Leicester City seem to have found their mojo again and came away as 2-3 winners away against Newcastle. Both teams will be playing the attacking game which could make this a fairly high scoring game. Southampton may edge it due to home advantage.

STAR MAN: Charlie Austin (6.1m)

Played really well last match against the Gunners and certainly looks a threat going forward for the Saints.

PREDICTION: Southampton 2-0 Leicester

Swansea vs Man City

The Citizens come into this game after an important win at the home of their city rivals, Manchester United, and will be high on confidence as they secured an 11 point lead at the top of the table. City are simply scintillating as it stands and we definitely can’t see them faltering in this one.

STAR MAN: Sergio Aguero (11.6m)

Rested in the Manchester Derby, the Argentine will be raring to go to get his name on the scoresheet.

PREDICTION: Swansea 0-2 Manchester City

Liverpool vs West Brom

The Merseyside derby didn’t go according to plan as the Reds had to bow out with a draw, all courtesy to a penalty given away by LOLvren. The Baggies on the other hand are in the worst of runs as they are winless since gameweek 2. After a much heated post match interview, Klopp will definitely be looking to bounce back with a win and we imagine they will be too much for the Baggies to handle.

STAR MAN: Mohamed Salah (9.9m)

He is the man of the Mo-ment!

PREDICTION: Liverpool 4-0 West Brom

Manchester United vs Bournemouth

The United boys come into this midweek fixture on the back of a disappointing defeat which saw their unbeaten run at Old Trafford end after 40 games. Jose and his boys will be looking to bounce back immediately and with the home crowd behind them, it could be a tough evening for the Cherries.

STAR MAN: Anthony Martial (8.0m)

His pace and ability to run behind defences is something Howe and his team will need to concerned about.

PREDICTION: Manchester United 3-0 Bournemouth

Tottenham vs Brighton

After a disappointing run of 4 games, Spurs are back with a BANG, with their star man Harry Kane labelling it as “much needed”. Pochettino will be looking to continue from where they left off so they can make up some ground on the leading pack.

STAR MAN: Harry Kane (12.8m)

The Englishman has been involved in nearly 50% of Spurs’ goals in league this season and might prove to be a great captain pick against the Seagulls.

PREDICTION: Tottenham 3-1 Brighton

West Ham vs Arsenal

Moyes’ Hammers side come into this game after surprisingly taking the 3 points against the mighty Chelsea. Arsenal on the contrary were pretty average against last week’s opponents Southampton, having dug out a point in the dying moments of the game. Both sides be looking to take something from this game and this promises to be an action pack, end to end, London derby.

STAR MAN: Jack Wilshere (5.4m)

Weren’t expecting to see this name? With Ramsey tweaking his hamstring, he could be given the opportunity to fill in the void.

PREDICTION: West Ham 1-2 Arsenal
