Gameweek 31 FPL Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 31 would see several sides busy with FA Cup quarter-finals, meaning there were fewer matches in the Premier League than usual. However, there were still some crucial games taking place, especially involving some struggling sides. West Brom travelled to Dean Court to face Bournemouth, while Huddersfield hosted Crystal Palace on Saturday. Everton made the journey to Stoke City, while their Merseyside neighbours Liverpool hosted Watford in the late kick-off. Anyway, here’s the FPL Updates Gameweek 31 FPL Review…

Goalkeeper

Wayne Hennessey – Crystal Palace had been in poor form of late, and found themselves in the relegation zone, despite some strong form after the arrival of former England boss Roy Hodgson. The Eagles seem set to battle the likes of West Ham, Stoke City and Southampton as they bid to retain their Premier League status. They knew that their trip to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield Town may be massive come the end of the season in May. Town weren’t out of It themselves, so were in desperate need of a win as well.

Defenders

James Tomkins, Mamadou Sakho & Patrick van Aanholt – Palace arrived in Yorkshire looking for what would be a priceless three points, and started on the front foot, and were rewarded as they took the lead after just 20 minutes. After Huddersfield failed to clear a Luka Milivojevic corner, James Tomkins put the Eagles ahead. It came after a strong spell of early pressure. As the snow fell, Palace continued to dominate, and did manage to net a second, which would see no way back for David Wagner’s side.

Andrew Robertson – Liverpool faced Watford at Anfield on Saturday evening. Naturally, the Reds started as strong favourites, but Watford under new boss Javi Gracia they had began to show some promise, with wins over Chelsea and West Brom. One standout player of late has been Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson, who since joining from Hull City in summer, looks to have finally made the left-back position his own. He picked up an assist as his side recorded a 5-0 win over the Hornets, with a certain Mohammed Salah playing a blinder.

Midfielders

Mohamed SalahSadio Mané – Liverpool were in superb form as they battered Watford 5-0 at Anfield on Saturday evening. The star of the show was undoubtedly Egyptian international Mo Salah, who received a standing ovation from the home faithful after netting 4 times against the Hornets on the day. Roberto Firmino netted the other Liverpool goal, as he flicked home brilliantly, from a Mo Salah cross of course. It was a fantastic day for the Reds, while one might feel sorry for the away fans who made the journey North in the snow.

Jordan IbeJunior Stanislas – AFC Bournemouth had looked to be in real danger three months ago, however some strong form in the new year saw the Cherries pull clear of the danger zone. They found themselves in 10th position prior to facing at Dean Court. They knew that a win would likely end their relegation fears. They looked to have made the worst possible start when Jay Rodriguez put the Baggies in front. However, goals from Jordan Ibe and Junior Stanislas in the final 15 minutes saw a win for the Cherries, while in may put pay to West Brom’s survival hopes.

Luka Milivojevic – Crystal Palace recorded a huge win over fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town in Yorkshire on Saturday, which sees them climb out of the relegation zone and into 16th position in the Premier League. Their second goal came when Luka Milivojevic scored from the spot, after Andros Townsend was brought down by Zanka in the area. The loss for Huddersfield sees them remain just three points clear of the relegation zone, as the bottom of the Premier League heads towards an exciting climax.

Forwards

Cenk Tosun – Having signed for approximately £30 million in January, there were serious expectations where it came to Turkish international forward Cenk Tosun. The former Beskitas forward netted his first Premier League goal when he headed Everton in front at Burnley a couple of weeks ago. He started as his side faced Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium. After Charlie Adam was sent off for the hosts, Tosun gave his side the lead, before being pegged back by Eric Choupo-Moting. However, Tosun would win it with five minutes remaining when his diving header found the back of the net to see the Toffees onto 40 points, and surely safety in the Premier League.
