Huddersfield Town – FPL Potential – Fantasy Football Tips

As a Leeds United fan it pains me to talk about Huddersfield Town in the same sentence as Fantasy Football however it was a club I chose to write about given I have had a lot of exposure to them, in the main as a victor over the last few years. Their manager has come from nowhere to galvanise a city and a club to promotion via the Playoffs last season, albeit without winning a playoff game in 90 minutes.

STAR MAN – Tom Ince (6.0m)

Joined this summer from Derby County for £9 million, Tom is the son of a former Liverpool and England legend, Paul Ince. He has scored a cool 77 goals and 51 assists where one of each came in a Premier League game whilst on loan at Crystal Palace where they won 3-1. At only 25 this is a staggering record, but can he step up the ranks and perform for us Fantasy Premier League fanatics? I seem to think he can as he has the desire and capability of doing so. What is helping him along the way is the gift of fixtures Huddersfield Town have been given to start the season. With home games against Newcastle, Southampton and Leicester combined with travels to West Ham, Palace, Burnley and Swansea, can you really afford to not take the gamble?

HIDDEN GEM – Steve Mounié (6.0m)

The same price as Tom Ince, Steve could be a cheap 3rd Striker to help bolster the rest of your fantasy squad. Signing from French Ligue 1 club, Montpellier over the summer for a whopping £13 mmillion, he arrives in West Yorkshire with high expectations. Steve is only 22 so experience isn’t his best virtue however Wagner brings the best out of players and managed to get out of the doldrums of the Championship with pretty much nothing so this is the right place for his chance. He scored 15 goals from 37 games last season, at one point going on a nice little run of 5 consecutive goals. Huddersfield Town don’t keep many clean sheets so investing in attack minded players could be rewarding considering the joint most expensive player in their ranks is this guy, Steve Mounié

BARGAIN – Tommy Smith (5.0m)

Okay, so I just said don’t invest in Huddersfield defence, but if I told you that you could pick up a midfielder for the same price, 5.0m, who knocked up 8 assists and 4 goals last season playing every single game I think you would knock me to the floor to get there first! This guy did just that, not to mention keeping 12 clean sheets along the way. Without bonus points, last season Tommy would of scored 166 points. Yes, it was the championship but let’s be honest, there are defensively weaker teams in the Premier league than the likes of Newcastle, Fulham and *Cough Cough* Leeds United, so if you’re looking for not just a bargain but a potential bandwagon differential then take a look at Towns most expensive defender, Tommy Smith
