Josh Tymon – Fantasy Football Potential

Stoke City have signed 18 year old left back Josh Tymon on a 5 year deal from Hull City. Tymon was released by Hull after he turned down a new offer from the Tigers with the hope of a better deal.

Hulls city’s vice chairman Ehab Allam was not pleased with the outcome and had this to say about Josh Tymon:

“The club is naturally disappointed to lose a home-grown product of its academy.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Josh Tymon made 4 league appearances at Hull city from 2015/16 to 2016/17 season and 6 more appearances in the domestic cups scoring 1 goal. Being naturally gifted on the left hand side of the pitch, he has developed impressively throughout his time in Hull City’s academy and is a comfortable in a few positions, mainly left back, but has developed into a wing back and left midfielder on occasions.

Playing 325 minutes of football and with a passing percentage of only 76%, he must improve to gain first team appearances for Stoke City as competition will be tough from team mates, Erik Pieters and occasionally Marc Muniesa.

Priced at 4.5m he may be a good shout for the 5th defender for drafts and opening gameweeks, but it will be unlikely to see him pick up game time ahead of Pieters when it comes to starts (unless injuries or suspensions occur). There will be better options elsewhere as the opening fixtures for Stoke will prove difficult.

Stoke’s opening fixtures are as followes; Everton (A), Arsenal (H), West Brom (A), Manchester United (H) & Newcastle United (A).
