Mohamed Salah – Fantasy Premier League Potential

Liverpool have broke there club record fee of £35 million with add ons to sign former Chelsea and Roma explosive winger Mohamed Salah on a 5 year deal. The 25 year old failed to make an impression at his time at Chelsea but relishes his chance under Jurgen Klopp.

Mohamed Salah spent the 2016/17 season developing his talent at Roma in Serie A making 41 appearances in all competitions bagging himself 19 goals and 12 assists which made him one of the stand out performers in the league. This will no doubt do nothing but increase competition for Liverpool on the wings and will definitely excite Liverpool & FPL fans.

This is what Mohamed Salah thought of his transfer:
“I’m very excited to be here. I’m very happy. I will give 100 per cent and give everything for the club. I really want to win something for this club. We have a great team and very good players. I was watching the games last year and everyone was giving 100 per cent to win something. Everyone can see the coach gives everything. I hope to see that together we can give everything to win something for the club, for the supporters and for us.”

Fantasy football potential

As mentioned above this transfer for Liverpool will bring another exciting talent to there attacking line. Salah preferably playing on the right wing will back up Jurgen Klopps tactics of Mane left wing, Firmino center forward and Mohamed Salah on the right. With Liverpool also looking to offload youngster Sheyi Ojo this will almost guarantee of Salah’s position in the team of right wing.

Looking at Mohamed Salah’s performances in 2016/17 seasons his price will probably be around the 8.0m to 8.5m which may be a put off at the start for fantasy managers until the season progresses. Although, he created 71 chances in the league alone for Roma, with a return of 19 goals and 12 assists which isn’t a statistic to shy away from. An impressive passing percentage of 80% throughout the season can be a game changer if he maintains his performance under Klopps tactics.

Liverpool’s opening fixtures are a mixed bag with some even contests with a starting five of; Watford (A), Crystal Palace (H), Arsenal (H), Man City (A) and Burnley (H). Liverpool will need to capitilise on the first 2 fixtures for a morale boost heading into the first real test against Arsenal and they will potentially play there strongest squad, which in my opinion will feature Mohamed Salah along with the likes of Coutinho, Firmino and Mane.
