Newcastle – FPL Potential – Fantasy Football Tips

It’s been a cracking few months for Newcastle. They go up while Sunderland and Middlesbrough go down, could it have been more perfect? The Toon Army have Yo-Yo’d back into the Premier League but more importantly (ish), back into Fantasy Football.

Is there a hidden gem in this Newcastle squad or a bargain you need to know about? Let’s find out…

STAR MAN – Matt Ritchie (6.0m)

Matt Ritchie was a Premier League player stuck in the Championship last season and now he’s finally back where he belongs. There is an argument he has one of the most lethal left-foot’s in the Premier League and we saw this in his 4 goals and 8 assist season for Bournemouth in the 2015/16 campaign. Although corner’s and free-kicks will be shared mainly between himself and Shelvey, Ritchie will still take his fair share of them and has the ability to either score or assist from these dead-ball opportunities

HIDDEN GEM – Jamaal Lascelles (4.5m)

The hidden gem pick is really tough for Newcastle, they have hardly signed anyone meaning most of their players aren’t exactly “hidden”. Jamaal Lascelles is the player I went for in the end, he’s a fan favourite at Newcastle, already the captain of the club at 23 and will play every game he’s available for. He played 43 times for Newcastle last season and scored 3 goals, in the 2015/16 Premier League he only played 18 times but managed to bag 2 goals showing that he will find the net several times in a season. Your average Premier League fan won’t know too much about this player making him a tidy, cheap option for your defensive line.

BARGAIN – Dwight Gayle (6.5m)

Yes, 6.5 isn’t exactly a bargain but it’s a bargain in the sense that when you see that players such as Sturridge, Batshuayi and Giroud who will be struggling for game time this season are 8.0m or over I would say Gayle is a bargain. Gayle has Premier League experience and is improving year on year. In his last season in the Premier League he scored 7 goals, respectable. He then tore up the Championship and bagged 23 league goals. This means that Gayle will be full of confidence and that’s one of the key attributes a successful striker needs. A striker with momentum is a striker to be feared and Dwight Gayle certainly has that, if he hits double figures this season 6.5m will certainly be a good bargain option.
