Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 15 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

This week we see some midweek Premier League action and as the fixtures become more hectic, the captaincy selections become more crucial. Before we consider this week’s, here’s how last week’s captaincy analysis did:

1. Raheem Sterling – 9 points
2. Eden Hazard – 6 points
3. Mohamed Salah – 3 points
Differential – Anthony Martial – 1 point
Gamble – Harry Kane – 6 points

Now onto this week’s selections:

1. Raheem Sterling (WAT)

The festive period of FPL is back! We all simultaneously love and hate this part of the season, because while there seems to be a game every day, it means rotation. At the moment though, this man has to be in your minds for captaincy. With 4 goals and 5 assists for Sterling in his previous 5 games, there’s not many players playing as well as him at the moment, and it feels strange to say that he probably should have more! He’s still only owned by 17% of managers, a low number for a player with a terrific return these past few weeks.

2. Gylfi Sigurdsson (NEW)

I’m still devastated by that last minute loss against Liverpool, but for the first time this season I thought Sigurdsson was poor. Hopefully it was an off game, but that was only his 3rd blank since gameweek 3, so it was probably inevitable. A home game to Newcastle is next for Everton, and they’ll look to bounce back after that loss to their neighbours. He could have got a couple of assists too, however Walcott and Richarlison both didn’t seem up for the task last weekend.

3. Callum Wilson (HUD)

You may be surprised to hear that Wilson has provided the 2nd most amount of goals and assists this season, scoring 7 and assisting 7 so far this season. Only Sterling has more, scoring one more than his English teammate. I’ve been really impressed by Howe’s Bournemouth side this season and he seems to have brought the best out of Wilson. They take on a Huddersfield side struggling for form this Tuesday, and he may be a little differential, as he probably won’t be captained by that many managers this week.

Differential – Christian Eriksen (SOU)

This was initially going to be Son, until I realised that the Dane is only owned by 4% of managers, so he takes the “Differential” spot this week. He’s provided three assists since his return, and always seems to be a bonus points magnet whenever he plays. He’s always on set piece duty (excluding penalties) and always lasts the full 90 minutes, so definitely one to keep an eye on. Spurs take on a Southampton side who have conceded 12 goals in the last 4 games, and Spurs will definitely want to win after Arsenal managed to put 4 past them on Sunday.

Gamble – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (MUN)

May seem a strange decision to put him as a gamble, especially after the derby on Sunday in which he scored a brace, however Arsenal take on Man United this Wednesday, who have been poor at the back. However,  you genuinely never know what to expect from Man United as they could either turn up and play magnificently well, or roll over and concede two goals in the first half. As well as that, Auba only mustered 3 shots in the game against Spurs, and while this may suggest that he’s clinical, it also confirms the lack of chances that he has. Comparing him to Kane, he only averages 1.7 shots per game, while Kane manages 4, a worrying stat for those who were thinking on captaining him.
