Fantasy Football Potential – Jack Wilshere

West Ham have signed out of contract former Arsenal player Jack Wilshere on a free transfer. The England international leaves the Emirates after 17 years with the Gunners that saw him register 125 Premier League appearances.

In those games he may have just scored seven goals, but when he does score it’s normally a special goal. Unfortunately for Wilshere, his career has been disrupted by injuries and a new start at West Ham may just be what he needs to reignite his career.

Here’s what Jack Wilshere had to say on his move:

“It feels good, it feels special. Many people know that I’ve had a special bond with this Club growing up. People will have seen the picture of me in a West Ham shirt and I’ve got good memories of my childhood supporting West Ham, watching them at Upton Park.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.0m)

Wilshere has very generously been priced at just £5.0m, which I think could be one of the best bargains on the game. With the calibre of player he is, he will most likely play an attacking role in the midfield and at that price is an absolute steal. Wilshere’s best Fantasy Premier League season was in 2010/11 where he scored 96 points, but since then he has struggled to get anywhere near there.

With West Ham making other high class signings in attacking areas, they’ll hope to be in and around the European spots, especially with a manager such as Manuel Pellegrini. Wilshere has plenty of European experience, playing 22 Champions League games scoring four and setting up four.

West Ham’s first five fixtures are as follows: Liverpool (A), Bournemouth (H), Arsenal (A), Wolves (H) and Everton (A). It’s a tough start for West Ham but Wilshere will be used to these big games by now and deal with the occasion.
