Fantasy Football Potential – James Maddison

Leicester City have signed Norwich attacking midfielder James Maddison on a five year deal for an undisclosed fee. The youngster impressed last season for the Canaries scoring 15 and assisting 8 goals in the Championship last season.

There was a lot of speculation surrounding the 21 year old but Leicester have the all-important signature from Maddison. Maddison made his England u21’s debut back in November and has been improving ever since.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Maddison said:

“I’m delighted. I’m really happy to be here. I had a good chat with the manager about football and how he wants me to play, how he likes to play and I was sold. We talked about the type of player I am, how I’m going to fit into his style of play and everything sounded really promising. I haven’t looked back since that phone call.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (6.5m)

Maddison has generously been priced at £6.5m, which has intrigued a few, but not too many have selected him in their FPL teams. If he can replicate the season he had with Norwich at Leicester then his price tag will certainly be hard to turn down.

Now Leicester have sold Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City, they will desperately need someone to fill his void and Maddison looks a good fit for that. He should get a healthy amount of game time at the Foxes despite his young age and he’s only going to get better.

Leicester’s first five fixtures are as follows: Manchester United (A), Wolves (H), Southampton (A), Liverpool (H) and Bournemouth (A). It is a very mixed bag for Leicester and Maddison will be looking to make an early impact in these games.
