Fantasy Football Potential – Ryan Fredericks

West Ham have signed right back Ryan Fredericks from Fulham on a free transfer after his contract ran out with the Cottagers. Fredericks joins the Hammers after impressing in Fulham’s promotion winning season which saw him named in the EFL Championship Team of the Year.

The 25 year old has one youth cap for England, playing in an u19 match defeat to the Netherlands. Interestingly he had been a district champion in the 100m, which proves the threat he will bring with his pace down the right hand side.

Fredericks told whufc.com:

“It’s amazing for this deal to finally happen. I know we’ve been speaking about it for a while and trying to get things in place and finally, we’ve got it over the line. I’m just buzzing to be here.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.0m)

Fredericks has been priced at £5.0m making him cheaper than his fellow full back Aaron Cresswell. Just 0.6% own him in comparison to Cresswell’s ownership of 2.5% meaning Fredericks could be a good differential.

The former Tottenham youngster has been credited with a place in FPL for three previous seasons, but has yet to make his debut in England’s top flight. Worryingly, in his 145 appearances in English league football he has just one goal to his name, which came in a loan spell with West Ham arch rivals Millwall.

West Ham’s first five fixtures are as follows: Liverpool (A), Bournemouth (H), Arsenal (A), Wolves (H) and Everton (A). It’s a tough set of away matches to start for West Ham and unfortunately for Fredericks and his owners, clean sheets may be hard to come by.
