Fantasy Football Potential – Samir Nasri

West Ham have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of former Manchester City attack minded midfielder Samir Nasri. The Frenchman joins the Hammers on a free transfer after having his contract mutually terminated with Turkish outfit Antalyaspor.

Nasri was given a doping ban from UEFA in February of last year which would eventually be lifted at the beginning of 2019. He has been training with West Ham and underwent a medical with the club which has led to the two time Premier League winner making a Premier League return.

Here’s what Samir Nasri said on his move:

“You choose a club and a project because of the ambition, and I think that West Ham has everything to be one of the biggest clubs in London, for sure. I mean, 60,000 people every game at home. Everything is there to be doing great things.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.5m)

With the vast amount of attacking options at Manuel Pellegrini’s disposal Nasri may find it difficult at first to get a strong place in the Chilean’s starting eleven. He has been training with his team mates for a while now so he should be getting to know them well so fitting in shouldn’t be as difficult.

He has been generously priced at £5.5m which could turn out to be a brilliant bargain. You would think he would be a sure starter once he has a run of games under his belt even at the age of 31. He would seemingly replace Robert Snodgrass who despite having a decent season thus far, doesn’t have the ability that Nasri has.

West Ham’s next five fixtures are as follows: Arsenal (H), Bournemouth (A). Wolves (A), Liverpool (H) and Crystal Palace (A). A familiar opponent in Arsenal could mark his debut in a claret shirt but I would wait until Nasri has a secure place in the starting eleven before bringing him in.
