Gameweek 35 Review – FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Following gameweek 35 we would see all Premier League sides draw level on games played. There would be two massive clashes for Manchester City, as they faced both Spurs and Manchester United in the derby. Liverpool would have to overcome Cardiff City in Wales to keep up the pressure on City. There were more big clashes at the bottom, with Burnley facing Chelsea at Stamford and Southampton facing matches against both Newcastle United and Watford. Wolves faced massive matches against Brighton and Arsenal in the race for seventh. Anyway, here’s the FPL Updates gameweek review…

Goalkeeper

Ederson – Few keepers maintain the standards of Manchester City stopper Ederson over the past two seasons. With questions having been asked over the £40 million fee to acquire the services of the former Benfica man, he has certainly repaid Pep Guardiola’s faith, turning in performance after performance on the way to may well be consecutive titles. He produced a big save to deny Marcus Rashford as the England international attempted to round him in the Manchester Derby on Wednesday night.

Defenders

Jonny Otto Castro & Matt Doherty – Wolves have enjoyed a season to remember on their return to the big time and may well find themselves playing European football next season should they finish the season stronger than Watford and Everton among others. Nuno Santo’s wingbacks are a massive part of how the midlands sides play, and they were on form over the double gameweek. They were however held by strugglers Brighton and Hove Albion. They became the first ever Premier League side to finish the match having not given away a foul.

Aymeric Laporte & Kyle Walker – Manchester City can nearly touch the Premier League title after a majorly successful double gameweek. That doesn’t mean to say that Pep’s side found it easy. They managed a 1-0 win against Spurs on Sunday. They scored what would turn out to be the winner within five minutes when a cross onto the head of Sergio Aguero saw the Argentine head back across goal for Phil Foden to net his first league goal for the club. What a moment it may turn out to be should they go on to secure the title.

Lucas Digne – Everton did a lot of business in summer, spending a lot of money in the process. However, one of their most successful signings has certainly been French wing-back Lucas Digne, who after a shaky start, has gone onto be one of the Toffees’ star performers. His delivery combined with his lethal left foot at set pieces mean that the former Roma and Barcelona man can add a lot to any side. The Merseyside club may view Digne as the successor to veteran star Leighton Baines, who seems to be getting phased out by Marco Silva.

Midfielders

Gerard Deulofeu – One side who don’t always get the credit their season warrants is Watford, who are well in with a chance of seventh spot under Javi Gracia. As they travelled to Huddersfield on Saturday it was yet again former Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu who came up with the goods, finishing well twice to seal a 2-1 win. They will be disappointed to only have taken a point at home to Southampton though, even after conceding the fastest Premier League goal ever within six seconds. It will be an interesting race for the final European place.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – Nobody ever doubts the quality of Everton playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson, and the Iceland international has enjoyed a superb season for the Toffees and was in fine form as they dismantled Manchester United 4-0 at Goodison. Sigurdsson netted his side’s second, rifling into the bottom corner from range past the stranded David De Gea. They will be wanting to secure a European place ahead of next season but face real challenges in the form of both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford on the way.

Bernardo Silva – One of the Premier League’s standout players this season has been Bernardo Silva of Manchester City. The Portuguese attacker has operated in various positions this campaign and was the star of the show as City secured wins over both Spurs and Manchester United. The second of which saw Silva himself open the scoring when he cut inside and drilled past David De Gea. Leroy Sané blasted in off De Gea to secure all three points. Pep Guardiola’s side now know they are only three wins away from another impressive Premier League title.

Ruben Neves – Much was made of Ruben Neves’ decision to join Wolves in the summer of 2017; however, he has only enjoyed success since, becoming a vital part of a midfield that may go on to secure European football next season. He opened the scoring against Arsenal on Wednesday night as he bent a lovely free kick over the Gunners wall and into the corner. Diogo Jota and Matt Doherty added goals, before Sokratis netted a mere consolation for Unai Emery’s side to put Wolves in the driving seat for seventh position.

Forwards

Ayoze Perez – Newcastle United have enjoyed some strong form of late, especially at St. James’ Park. They turned in another superb performance this weekend as they put three past Southampton on Saturday evening. The man of the moment was undoubtedly Ayoze Perez, who netted three times on the way a 3-1 win. The hat-trick means Perez has netted four times in his last two matches. Nobody has ever questioned the work rate of the former Tenerife man, but the Geordie faithful will be pleased to see the goals start to flow.
