Leicester City – Fantasy Premier League Potential – Fantasy Football Tips

From League One in 2008 to Premier League champions in 2016, few other teams in the top division could say they’ve enjoyed such a journey in the last decade. The story continues this year, with a new challenge ahead – no more Riyad Mahrez. He might not be the only big departure either as Schmeichel has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Harry Maguire has been linked with plenty of the top sides after his impressive World Cup effort. So, are Leicester worth an FPL investment, or is Jamie Vardy’s party feeling a little quiet all of a sudden…

This’ll be Claude Puel’s first full season in charge at the King Power and he’s made a few singings of his own already. Premier League veteran Jonny Evans has been picked up from relegated West Brom and James Maddison, the young midfielder from Norwich with a lot of expectation riding on him.

STAR MAN – Jamie Vardy (£9.0m)

At £9.0m, it’s easy to be instantly put off Leicester’s main man, but it’s easy to forget this guy’s remarkable ability to just keep scoring. Jamie Vardy has scored 57 Premier League goals in the last 3 seasons, which is the kind of total that compares with the likes of Lukaku or Aguero and easily tops Firmino’s last 3 seasons. Sure, Leicester will be a different animal without Mahrez but the partnership was never famed for chances created, it was the pair’s ability to finish the one chance they get a game. Vardy could see himself run into more chances this year thanks to new man, Maddison. Playing in the centre of the park, Maddison created 120 chances last season – more than enough to see Vardy continue to score 20+ goals and justify his price tag.

HIDDEN GEM – Demarai Gray (£5.5m)

Another season approaches, another season of FPL managers hoping that Demarai Gray can earn himself a nailed position in the Fox’s starting 11. With creativity all of a sudden lacking on the Leicester wings, they’ve got their own in-house replacement in the form of Gray. £5.5m is a competitive price bracket though, so it’s perhaps hard to justify putting him in your GW1 squad but certainly a player to keep an eye on.

BARGAIN – Eldin Jakupovic (£4.5m)

Bear with me. The huge advantage we all have this season is that the transfer deadline is 24 hours before the Gameweek 1 deadline. So if Schmeichel does make his way over to Chelsea, Jakupovic will be the pick of budget bunch. £4.5m undercuts most the Leicester defenders too and with a set of fairly steady fixtures to start the season with, Eldin has already proven he’s more than capable of racking up save points and even penalty saves.

PREDICTED LINE UP

Jakupovic
Pereira – Evans – Maguire – Chilwell
Ndidi – Iborra
Gray – Maddison – Albrighton
Vardy
