Euro 2016 Preview – Switzerland – Fantasy Football Tips

Switzerland are not going to be pushovers at Euro 2016, and their manager is not one to mess about. Gokhan Inler’s absence from the squad proves that they do not pick players based on history, but on form, which is just how we like things to be done in fantasy football. They finished second to England in their qualifying group.

Defence

Stephan Lichtsteiner is a fantastic player to have from Switzerland, as he can attack really well down the right, in addition to his defensive duties. He enjoyed Serie A title success with Juventus, and he already has 80 caps to his name. In the other full-back position, Ricardo Rodriguez does an equally great enough job in helping the team in all areas where possible. Arsenal stalwarts Johan Djourou and Philippe Senderos also make the cut.

Midfield

Granit Xhaka will be on Fantasy Premier League in an Arsenal shirt next season and he may well feature in your Euro 2016 teams too. Xherdan Shaqiri and Valon Behrami are also Swiss internationals that are familiar to us, with the former’s flare particularly impressive as he showed in Stoke’s win over Manchester City. Only consistency is missing from his game, but he is definitely worth a mention.

Forwards

It is fair to say that the Switzerland struggle in this department, with no solid goal scorer up front, Josip Drmic has been ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury, so they will be relying on the midfield for the majority of the goals. Breel Embolo however, touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Europe at the moment, could well be a dark horse during Euro 2016.
