Euro 2016 Preview – Turkey – Fantasy Football Tips

Turkey have shown at recent international tournaments that they are not present just to make up the numbers. Having reached the semi-finals at the World Cup in 2002, as well as Euro 2008, they will be looking to go one further at Euro 2016. So, as the competition gets closer and closer by the day, let’s delve into which players you should be looking at for your fantasy football teams

Defence

It is probably worth giving the goalkeepers a miss, as they are rather inexperienced with just 28 caps between the three of them. The entire defence play domestically, and Semih Kaya scored two goals this season for Galatasaray. Having conceded just nine goals in ten qualification matches and qualifying ahead of Holland in the group, Hakan Balta and Gokhan Gonul may also be worth selecting.

Midfield

Liverpool legend Nuri Sahin helped Borussia Dortmund finish second in the Bundesliga, but set piece specialist Hakan Calhanoglu could be a real danger-man for the Turkish this summer. Touted as one of the best free kick takers on the continent at the moment, the Bayer Leverkusen man has scored in the Bundesliga, German Cup, Champions League and Europa League this season, so there is every chance that he will find the back of the net at the Euros! Arda Turan, who will captain the side, is also a quality player and enjoyed La Liga and Copa del Rey success with Barcelona this season.

Forwards

There are limited options up front for Turkey, but Burak Yilmaz who was previously heavily linked with a move to the Premier League is expected to lead the line. He scored four goals in the qualification campaign, and has since made a move to China.
