FPL Transfer Window – Episode 3 – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Having just collected the stats for the Transfers for this video, I’m swamped with news of more transfers, so apologies if the transfer you most want to read about is not in this article. It looks like this FPL Transfer Window article might become a full time job, and that’s just covering Everton’s transfer business, never mind the rest of the league. But I’m dedicated in getting you the info to make the most of the start of the Fantasy Premier League game, which should be live sometime in the week starting July 10th.

For more information on these transfers, feel free to check out my youtube channel FPL Today, where I cover my thoughts on the FPL Potential of these five signings, as well as how they may fit into their new teams and I also do plenty of other content around the Fantasy Premier League game. Today’s video features five transfers but in this article I’ll cover the big three transfers in more detail.

But enough chit chat, let’s get into the transfers.

Jermain Defoe to Bournemouth (Estimated Price: 7.5m)

Well this transfer took it’s time to finalize. All of us that follow the transfer news, will have been aware that Defoe was going to Bournemouth, but it was made official last week.

Whilst his wages might be fairly high if reports are to be believed, Jermain Defoe is a proven Premier League scorer and if he can score for Sunderland, then surely he can score plenty for this Bournemouth side, especially with the likes of Afobe, King, Stanislas and more to supply him. With 15 goals last season, he is a goal scorer no matter what team he plays in.

Last season his price rose from 7.0m up to the dizzy heights of 7.9m before dropping to around the 7.4m area. Because of this and his transfer to a club that should offer him more opportunities, his price will probably be around the 7.5m marker.

Nathan Ake to Bournemouth (Estimated Price: 5.0m)

Bournemouth are taking a page from the Everton playbook and getting some business done early as they have spent £20 million on Nathan Ake, who had a short but successful spell at Bournemouth last year on loan. Whilst £20m seems a lot, Ake has Premier League experience with Bournemouth and Watford under his belt and showed some promising stats last season during his short spell as a Bournemouth first team player.

Whilst there are some questions regarding his starting position as Eddie Howe’s defence seems relatively secure last season, there are no questions about his stats. In eight appearances for the Cherries he managed to score 3 times and got an average rating of 7.20. So plenty of pluses for what is meant to be a defensive player and many fantasy managers will be hoping he takes the left back role at Bournemouth so he has the freedom to run forward.

Taking this into account, a bump in price may be warranted as it would be too much to dream of a 4.5m price tag after this big transfer move for a player that has shown promise. 5.0m is a sensible estimated price for Nathan Ake, who could still be worth it at this price tag.

Aaron Mooy to Huddersfield (Estimated Price: 5.0m)

First off, full disclaimer, I am not an expert on Championship Football or Huddersfield and their 2016/17 season which saw them win the Playoffs and get promoted to the Premier League. So everything is based off of the stats he has shown from last season. Huddersfield have spent £8 million on Aaron Mooy so what I am confident in, is Huddersfield’s management believe he is an important player for the club.

The stats back this up as he did end up with 4 goals and 7 assists last season, also with some good underlying stats as well as an average rating of 7.08. Rough maths even suggests he was involved in 20% of Huddersfield’s 56 goals last season.

However, let’s face it, nobody is expecting Huddersfield to score many goals in the Premier League or even survive in the Premier League and with that said, we expect him to come in around the 4.5m to 5.0m marker.
