Fantasy Football Potential – Bobby Reid

Cardiff have signed Bristol City forward Bobby Reid after their promotion to the Premier League. Reid makes his move across the River Severn for a reported £10 million after coming through the academy in Bristol.

Reid impressed greatly for Bristol City last campaign scoring 19 and assisting 7 goals in the Championship which almost lead to a surprise place in the play offs for City. He was originally a central midfielder, but moved further forward at the beginning of last season and the change of position certainly paid off.

Neil Warnock said:

“I’ve been after Bobby for a while now. I like the lad. By all accounts he’s great around the dressing room. He can play in a number of positions and his best is yet to come. Players like Bobby and Josh Murphy are hungry, and that is what we need now. We’re very happy to bring Bobby in.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.5m)

Reid has been classed as a forward as expected and has been priced at £5.5m. Newly promoted forwards are always interesting as you never know how good they could be. They could prove to be the new Jamie Vardy or flop and become another Patrick Bamford.

Reid has proven he can score against Premier League opposition. He scored a penalty in Bristol City’s valiant defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi final first leg at the Etihad. His £5.5m price tag could come in handy as it would free up a big amount of budget for other positions.

Cardiff’s first five fixtures are as follows: Bournemouth (A), Newcastle (H), Huddersfield (A), Arsenal (H) and Chelsea (A). It’s a reasonable first couple of games for Cardiff but it gets severely worse from there and will definitely challenge Reid to score and provide goals.
