Fantasy Football Potential – Gerard Deulofeu

Watford have made the signing of Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu for a reported fee of €13 million. This signing comes after a loan spell with the Hornets last season where he scored one goal and set up another in 433 minutes of Premier League football.

Deulofeu has had a complicated career to say the least, despite still being only 24. In a sentence, he came through the ranks at Barcelona, went out on loan to Everton and Sevilla, joined Everton permanently, loaned out to Milan, rejoined Barcelona, out on loan to Watford then joined them this summer!

Deulofeu said:

“I am here because I think Watford is a great team, we have a lot of good players, and we have to work and achieve a good position in the Premier League because the team can do this. Everyday we work and I am here because my confidence in Watford is good confidence.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.5m)

The Spaniard has been on everybody’s radar at some point over the last few seasons and you can see why. When he plays he looks dangerous and causes the opposition problems, but he hasn’t yet found a club where he can be settled at. For Spain’s u21 team he was certainly settled playing 36 times and scoring 17 in the process.

He’s been priced at £5.5m making him very intriguing for many FPL managers. His ownership is a tad under 5% which puts him on the first page of owned midfielders. Last campaign he scored 25 points in 433 minutes of football giving him a very decent ratio of points per 90 of above 5.

Watford’s first five fixtures are as follows: Brighton (H), Burnley (A), Crystal Palace (H), Tottenham (H) and Manchester United (H). With four out of five being at home, Deulofeu will be looking to make a statement to the Watford fans and hopefully for his owners getting goals and assists with it.
