Fantasy Football Potential – Juninho Bacuna

Huddersfield have signed Groningen midfielder Juninho Bacuna for an undisclosed fee. The Dutchman plays in the centre of midfield in a more defensive role. He is the younger brother of Leandro Bacuna who had a spell with Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Juninho Bacuna has played for Netherlands at a few different youth levels amassing 16 appearances including three for the under 21 side. In the 2015/16 season he also made an appearance in the Europa League.

Huddersfield Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring Juninho in, especially before we report back as it allows him to have a full pre-season with the team. He’s a young, hungry player that has already played a lot of football for someone of his age and even if he’s still very young, he strengthens our options in this position.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (4.5m)

Bacuna plays defensive midfield so he is unlikely to make the selection for many people’s fantasy teams. His £4.5m price tag does give him a slither of hope as everyone is looking for a good £4.5m option and if he gets clean sheets and avoids bookings he could be a decent pick.

He has just two goals in 82 Eredevise matches which aren’t exactly enticing stats for FPL managers, which has been proved as he is owned by just 0.2%. The 20 year old may be one for the future for Huddersfield and FPL managers but I wouldn’t select him yet.

Huddersfield’s first five fixtures are as follows: Chelsea (H), Manchester City (A), Cardiff (H), Everton (A) and Crystal Palace (H). It’s a mixed bag for the Terriers but if Bacuna can get game time he could pick up some useful points.
